Question about HP Officejet Pro L7680 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Can't fax in or out with my L7680

When faxing out yesterday and again today, the fax seems to be going fine until it says "connecting" for a while and then prints out Error 388--A communication error occurred during the fax transmission. . . .

This morning, someone tried repeatedly to fax something in to my machine, but was unsuccessful.

What's changed and how can we fix this? I need my fax!

I want to set up the fax facility of the HP L7680. I have a ADSL modem and share the telephone line. Can you help me? Allen Versteeg

First you must have a two prong cable (RJ11)
That should be connected to Line 1 at the back of the printer

On the printer press the setup button
Select Basic fax setup >> Ok >>Select rings to answer >> make it to 2
Then Go back to the previous menu select Advanced fax setup>> ok>>
Select Answer rings pattern>> All rings

This should work

I have tried everything to get my printer to receive faxes but to no avail. Have reinstalled drivers, set distinctive rings over and over again, unplugged and replugged in everything. I'm at my wits...

If you are using a DSL Internet connection you must put a DSL filter on the phone line going to the printer. Without the filter, all the printer is hearing is internet noise..

Every time I send a fax, I get a Fax Log. Want to disconnect the fax log.

Hello. Go into the menu and disable the log or set it to print off a log after every, say, 20 faxes. J.

Communication error when sending a fax.

Is it all numbers of just this one? If all numbers then there may be too much noise on the line for the fax to get a good connection.

Things to try:
1) unplug the fax for about 5 minutes and try again.
2) Try plugging the fax into a different phone jack if possible.
3) Try using a different (preferably as short as possible) phone cord and see if that helps.

If just this one the problem may be on the recepients end.
