When faxing out yesterday and again today, the fax seems to be going fine until it says "connecting" for a while and then prints out Error 388--A communication error occurred during the fax transmission. . . .
This morning, someone tried repeatedly to fax something in to my machine, but was unsuccessful.
What's changed and how can we fix this? I need my fax!

fax memory switched on documents held until other machine answers then transmits page by page fuction parameters of fax side of machine fuction 7 then 4 switch memory to on . the only other way the machine will send like this is by a manual dial when the hook button is pressed then the number put in the documents are held until the user is prompeted to press the start key
First you must have a two prong cable (RJ11)
That should be connected to Line 1 at the back of the printer
On the printer press the setup button
Select Basic fax setup >> Ok >>Select rings to answer >> make it to 2
Then Go back to the previous menu select Advanced fax setup>> ok>>
Select Answer rings pattern>> All rings
First make sure you cheaked the printer connection. Second retriy it again.IF it not worked you need to see your enginer.Ask he or she he should help you to instal l another operating software computer
first check all the connection to the printer check the phone line connected firmly on the printer then check for dial tone try to dial from the fax in the printer to any other number then return the call to the fax
Is it all numbers of just this one? If all numbers then there may be too much noise on the line for the fax to get a good connection.
Things to try: 1) unplug the fax for about 5 minutes and try again. 2) Try plugging the fax into a different phone jack if possible. 3) Try using a different (preferably as short as possible) phone cord and see if that helps.
If just this one the problem may be on the recepients end.
