I HAVE REPLACED THE WAX MOTOR AND MECHANISHM FOR THE DOOR THAT WORKS FINE. I HAVE TESTED THE BALANCE CIRCUITRY AND ALL SWITCHES ARE CLOSED.

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

aLSO HAVE TESTED MOTOR AND MOTOR CONTROL ...LOOK GOOD.

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

MAYTAG MAH3000AWW NEPTUNE DOES NOT SPIN.
    REPLACED LOCK MECHANISM
TESTED MOTOR AND 3 PHASES, RESULTS GOOD
TESTED CONTINUITY ON BALANCE SWITCHES (gOOD)
CHECKED BOARD - NO VISUAL DAMAGE
    VARIFIED CONTACTS (GOOD RESULT)
    STILL NO SPIN

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

it pumps all the water out of the tub, is it still necessary to do this?

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

motor has continuity in the phase wires, no continuity from wire to motor. same on tach connection.

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

i have checked continuity and ohms and the connects to motor are ok? do you know how i can verify that the out of balance switch on lower left of machine board is ok? that is the only switch in the "out of balance group of switches that i have not verified??

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

daniel_s --i asked you the question if and how i check it? the water is being pumped out of the tub!
    please advise, joe

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

the water is being pumped out of the machine what is it that i need to check?

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

    let me know? thanks

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

also the motor does tumble but will not spin.

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

some reason you are not getting my replies. let me know if you get this one

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

what i meant was that the wiring does have continuity into the motor and back. for example yellow to orange line on phase 1 has continuity. there is no continuity from the lines in to the side of the metal housing which would indicate a short.

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

i do not have a diagnostic computer i am just using a digital multimeter.

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

tach harness tests indicates a good motor (11 VDC ON BLACK TO WHITE). BLUE TO BLACK (WHILE turning slowing) 2-4 VDC

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

is there any way to test to see the problem on the motor control board.

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

you should have the reply already

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

you should have this reply already

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

perhaps you're not receiving my answers. is there a better way. I keep getting your questions sent to me via email connect. but the same questions are all that i get!???

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

I HAVE A MAH3000AWW FRONT LOADER. NO DIGITAL DIAGNOSTICS ON MACHINE

TACH --CONNECTION IS GOOD AND VDC CHECK INDICATES MOTOR IS GOOD

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

I HAVE NOT FOUND ANY SHORTS

  • Joe Weber Apr 03, 2011

    ALREADY REPLIED TWICE TO THIS!??

  • Joe Weber Apr 04, 2011

Went back to confirm and ..yes all steps are completed.

  • Joe Weber Apr 04, 2011

Door locked light has not been a problem ... takes about 45 seconds to turn on.

"unbalance relay on both boards"???...not aware of relay on motor control board???

all items you have asked have been varified again. look to talking as soon as you can. ...i will be back in front of computer around noon.

  • Joe Weber Apr 05, 2011

out of town will repond later today

    respectfully

    Joe W

  • Joe Weber Apr 07, 2011

jumped the unbalance circuit ...no change

    checked each switch ...no change

    where to next.

  • Joe Weber Apr 08, 2011

one question then i'll start working on wire to wire.

does the timer have any thing to do with the spin cycle that i should check?

    Please let me know.

  • Joe Weber Apr 08, 2011

i hear ya! It would be nice to know which wire is hot when it sends the spin cycle, just to verify its doing its job.

One of the first things that you would check would be the lid switch following that you have assured that the switch is working then you would assure that the belt coming off the motor is not broken following your checking that the belt is intact the drive belt is located on this diagram as part number 28 http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/partsdirect/showSubComp.pd?imageUrl=http%3a%2f%2fc.searspartsdirect.com%2flis_png%2fPLDM%2fM0603003-00007.png
following that you assure that the belt is intact you would then check to see if the motor is working if it is not then you would remove the motor and do a bench test to the motor itself if the motor does work then you would look at needing a new motor control and make sure before removing the motor you check every connection point it happens in these units that sometimes the lower harness wire that goes from the motor to the control sometimes does not seat properly in the connection and you have to unplug and replug the connector to get a good connection http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/partsdirect/showSubComp.pd?imageUrl=http%3a%2f%2fc.searspartsdirect.com%2flis_png%2fPLDM%2fM0603003-00012.png if you have any further questions message me back I await your reply Thanks Rick

hello i just got your posts all at once no continuity from motor board to motor in the harness would definetly be a problem area sec going to read further Thanks Rick

  • Rick Ead
    Rick Ead Apr 03, 2011

no continuity from wire to motor is what you wrote im taking this as the harness has no continuity from one point to the other also did you try reseating the plug ins before you started your tests to see if it wasnt just a bad connection also when you wrote also the motor does tumble but will not spin this is a control issue if you have tested which you have the motor also in the bottom of your machine you should of seen a service guide showing you how to test the unit by putting the unit in its diagnostic fucntion at which point after it was done it should of gave you an error code by this error code you would arrive at what your exact problem area is there are also other tests you can perform on this link as well as far as the upper boardhttp://reviews.ebay.com/Maytag-Neptune-N... do you have the door locked light on on your machine?another questions did you say you got nothing out of the tach on the motor that tach on that motor is known to blow out very easily you can also see another techs similar solution to the no spin issue here is that link as wellhttp://www.fixya.com/support/t229708-may... if you have any further questions message me back I await your reply Thanks Rick

write me back on how the tach checked out this is a problem that happens alot in these thanks Rick

  • Rick Ead
    Rick Ead Apr 03, 2011

no as far as the diagnostics you put the machine in the diagnositc cycle and the machine would give you an error code you do not need a diagnostic computer in order for the machine to run the tests and give you the exact error code right now your in between two boards on what the problem is either the upper of the lower or the tach on the motor by doing this diagnostic test it would tell you which of these three is your problem area its ok you have the machine already apart use the links and test those areas reccomended and you did not clarify further on the tach as well what were your finds on the tach I await your reply Thanks Rick

    Rick Ead Apr 03, 2011

yes but it seems i missed you saying above that you had a short in that wire that went to the motor On a wireless connection that seems to be going in and out atm repair the wire and message me back after you do with how you make out with testing after the wire is repaired Thanks Rick

  • Rick Ead
    Rick Ead Apr 03, 2011

thats funny cuz you just wrote that you had 2 hrs ago "what i meant was that the wiring does have continuity into the motor and back. for example yellow to orange line on phase 1 has continuity. there is no continuity from the lines in to the side of the metal housing which would indicate a short" use the link i posted to conduct your futher tests and STOP TYPING IN CAPITALS after each post there is a postion to reply so im not having to go up and down the page to see where your post is the very first link i posted have you gone through each step the link im talking about is this onehttp://reviews.ebay.com/Maytag-Neptune-N... thanks Rick

  • Rick Ead
    Rick Ead Apr 04, 2011

ok so lets go over this you have checked all the harnesses from the upper control that gives the motor power to the lower motor control as well you have checked the motor as well as the tach you have checked the spin relay on the board as well the unbalanced relay on both boards I dont see your reply to if the door light was on through this conversation but you have also checked that power is going to the motor from the motor control and that power is going to the motor control from the top control correct ? if this is correct and you have done all this then your problem would lie in the top control this is the wiring diagram for your machine as well so you can see how everything is wired click this link http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdir... we are definetly haviing a bad connection issue where as you are not getting what im sending and I am getting what you are sending much later although I have no idea why i will try to message you again in the morning hopefully oour connection will be better then it is now Thanks Rick

  • Rick Ead
    Rick Ead Apr 04, 2011

on the top board you have a line relay switch look on the wiring diagram if you follow that down you will see a tub displacement switch as well as the unbalanced switch test the tub displacement switch as well as the line relay that comes off the top board I await your reply Thanks rick

  • Rick Ead
    Rick Ead Apr 08, 2011

and you have pulled off the top board and checked that as well correct?if you have next would be to start going wire for wire from the top control to the lower control to the motor need a bit have to check your wiring diagram you checked the line relay correct?

  • Rick Ead
    Rick Ead Apr 08, 2011

yes if the timer is not going into the spin function or if the timer is not sending the signal to the board that hey its time to spin now then yes im going to look at the diagram i sent you awhile ago this is so much easier when im standing in front of the machine

Hi

When the washer will wash and wont drain or spin the issue is caused due to either of these two things...the lid switch or something clogged in the drain pump assembly...First check the lid switch assembly, you can also take out the switch and try to jump start the lid switch...if the washer spins then replace it if it does not then check the drain pump assembly. As it washes fine so I believe the control and motor is fine.

Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance. Daniel

Alright then if its draining fine and it wont spin then the motor is fine and you will have to replace the machine motor control board (MCU)....I dont think its anything else

re original issue, see if R11 is burned. if so, need to change R11 resistor and associated triac, and probably wax motor so it won't do it again. temporary fix just cut out R11, door won't lock. if your model won't spin that way, depress actuator for microswitch from door wax motor. instructions on web.

My maytag neptune mah3000aww spins slowly then reverses, then spins slowly. will not reach regular spinning speed. What is the problem?

it could be a balance problem. Most machines are programmed to abort fast spin if the drum is unbalanced. This can be caused by too much in there, or possible the contents have clumped together somehow. Try a spin cycle only with an empty machine and see if it reaches full spin

My maytag neptune MAH3000aww washing won't go into

most common issue with these is the door lock assy. You need to remove the control panel and check the R11 resistor on the board most likely it will be burnt. This was a common issue a few years back. If the R11 resistor is burnt you need to replace the door lock AND control board or your problem will occur again.

Hope this helps _MJ_

order the wax motor kit and replace parts from the internet. there are plenty of videos how to do this. it does require minor soldering and a little mechanical aptittude.
