Welcome to Fixya. The reason why it opens on a word pad or notepad is because it is the default program to open it. Can you please verify to me the extension of the file that you have unzip so that we can check what seems to be the problem and what program we will be using to open it.

Right Click on the File - select Properties - check the Type of File

Hi, hope you can help. - ezrahite_81.jpg
If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya.

Hi - If it is a text file you should be able to read the contents on your notepad or wordpad. May i know if the source of the zip file is safe because it can be a file that contains virus on it. Do you have microsoft word? can you try to open the txt file with it.

Please provide me with the result. May i also know why the attached file is in zip because usually a txt file is very small file that can be attached on an email.

Please check this one if this is helpful. By the way the format of your usb drive should be Fat32 so that it will be detected by your Ps3

Start>All programs>Accessories>notepad or wordpad.
If neither one shows up there, go to Start, click on "Run" (just click on the textbox at the bottom of the start menu for Windows Vista and Windows 7)

Quicken will not print. Program aborts after error message: Problems communicating to printer: "Dell Photo Printer 944" The specified resource name cannot be found in the image file.

Ensure that your printer is online and all cables are securely attached.

(i) If your printer is on a network, ensure that your network allows you permission to access the printer.

(ii) If you are printing to paper, ensure that the Quicken PDF Printer is not selected.
(iii) If you have more than one printer:

(iv) Ensure that you have selected the correct printer in Quicken. (Select the QuickenFile menu, select Printer Setup, and select the item you want to print. Be sure the correct printer shown in the Printer field. For example, if you are printing a report, select File > Printer Setup > For Reports/Graphs.)

(v)Try making another printer the default printer.
Microsoft Windows Vista:
Click the Microsoft Windows Vista logo (Start button) and select Control Panel.
Under Hardware and Sound, click Printer.

Select the printer and click the Set as default command button.

Microsoft Windows XP:

Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Printers and Faxes.

Right-click a printer and select Set as Default Printer.

(vi) Try printing from WordPad or Notepad to be sure Windows is communicating with your printer.

Click the Microsoft Windows Start button, select All Programs or Programs, select Accessories and select WordPad or Notepad.
Enter some text. Select the File menu and select Print.

(vii) If your file does print from WordPad or Notepad, try reinstalling the printer or printer driver.
(viii) If your file does not print from WordPad or Notepad, it probably means that Windows is not communicating with the printer. Check your Windows printer settings.
Thanks for using Fixya.
Good Luck and have a nice day.

Make laptop faster using a wordpad trick

I think you're referring to making your PC run faster using notepad (although wordpad does have it's benefits, it's unlikely that it could be utilized to make your laptop faster). To do this you would need to open NOTEPAD. Once notepad is opened, type this: mystring=(80000000)
Next you'll want to save this file as: speed up.vbs After that you'll need to open that file. If it's on your desktop just double click. If not, look in your documents then open it up. ***DISCLAIMER: this is not recommended if you're using your D800 for gaming. It has been known to cause it too heat up more than normal. Also, it may not speed your laptop up right away but it eventually works. DO NOT open it up over and over as this can cause it to work slowly as well. This is something that can be beneficial but you do so at your own risk. I hope this helps you. If so, please remember to vote.

Winmail to Outlook express 6

Outlook Express does not display any message attachments if TNEF-encoded file (winmail.dat) was received. If you are expecting some attachment, but do not see any, it still can be there.

To decode such a message perform the following steps:
  1. Save the whole e-mail message to an *.EML file via File, Save As, or Drag-and-drop.
  2. Open the *.EML file in a text editor such as Wordpad or Notepad.
  3. Locate the line Content-Type: application/ms-tnef;, and change the Content subtype to something else, such as Content-Type: application/zzz;
  4. Locate the line name="winmail.dat" and change to name="winmail.tnf". You may change the winmail part as well, if desired.
  5. Save the *.EML file from the text editor.
  6. Double click the *.EML file from the Windows File Explorer. This will open the message in a mail window and the TNEF attachment should now be available for saving.
  7. Drag the saved attachment into the Winmail Opener program. Decoded attachments will then be there and can be dragged or opened.
