How unlock the wd my passport

Power down your computer.

Remove the screws on the rear of the case and remove the side panel.

Place the jumper on the back of the hard drive to the "write-enabled" position.

Consult your drive manual if unsure of how to do this for your specific Western Digital drive model.

Replace the side panel and restart the computer.

or

If you know the password, go into the installation disc that pops up in my computer when you plug in your wd hard drive (right click and then open, not autorun) there should be some sort of thing called security.

Possibly unlock, or something along those lines on there double click on it and type in your password it should unlock it then every time then that you plug in your hard drive, you might have to do this to access your files

hope this helps

How connect slave drive dell computer?

I assume you are trying to add a slave drive to a Dell DESKTOP? If so, is it an IDE drive (standard hard drive). To that you will find a jumper plug, usually beside where the cable plugs in but sometimes on the opposite side. The jumper options are usually listed on the drive but what you will need to do is place the jumper plug in the slave slot. You will also need to move the jumper plug on the original hard drive to the master slot. That always seems to work the best for me. However, you can try adding plugging the slave drive into the next open slot on the IDE cable, which is already plugged into the original hard drive. If you get lucky it may automatically recognize the new drive as the slave. You may need to setup/configure the BIOS to set the master and slave drives. To check BIOS setting, hold F2 or F10 when you turn on/boot the PC.

I am interested in this drive Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB. I want to know how to install this drive into my desk top computer with a 3.0 slot for the drive as it is only 2.5 inches wide.

To install a Hard Disk Drive(HDD) into your desktop, take off the side panel of your case. Locate the SATA slots on it, they should be above the available Optical drive slots.

Put it in place, depending on your case you should either have a latch which locks it in place or you will have screws. After you've done, make sure that if you have another HDD in your PC, and you will not use this HDD for System files(C:\ drive), you will have to set the new one to Slave configuration. To do this you need to take out that jumper inside of the HDD(you can use some tweezers) and, according to what's printed on your HDD, move it up or down.

When you've done that, insert the SATA power supply cables from your Power Supply(PSU). After that use the SATA interface cables which came with your HDD and plug them into your Motherboard's SATA adapters. Locations of these vary depending on the motherboard so it's always best to refer to your Motherboard's manual to check locations.

After that start your PC and open up your BIOS/CMOS. Usually you press a key such as F2/F5/Esc on bootup. Configure your Motherboard to check for new drivers. After that save and exit and it will restart your PC. You should have installed your new HDD!

How to remove hardrive from ml3109

Turn the laptop so the bottom is facing up. Make sure you have powered the laptop off and have unplugged the AC adapter and battery. Near the part labeled E there are two small phillips screws. You would need to remove those and the tray at location E will pull out with the hard drive attached. There will be 4 screws(two on each side) holding the hard drive onto the tray, remove those and the hard drive can now be taken out. Reverse the steps using the new hard drive.

The document below gives instruction for installing, but the place and shape of the cabinet and hdd case may be different from you PC. You can use this as a refrence. Installing a hard disk drive Use the steps in this section to install a new hard drive into an empty drive bay. Step 1

If you are installing a new hard disk drive, make sure it is set to cable select. c01179815.jpg Step 2

Slide the hard disk drive into the hard drive cage. c01196498.jpg Step 3

Align the screw holes on the hard drive with the screw holes on the hard drive cage. c01179817.jpg NOTE: Make sure the connectors are at the top of the hard drive cage. c01179818.jpg Step 4

Replace the four screws (two on each side) to secure the hard drive to the hard drive cage. c01179813.jpg Step 5

Connect the power and data cables to the drive. The connectors are keyed and can be attached in only one way. c01179809.jpg Step 6

Insert the hard drive cage into the PC.

Align the four tabs on the side of the hard drive cage with... c01179819.jpg ... the four slots inside the PC. c01179820.jpg Align the three tabs on the side of the hard drive cage with ... c01179821.jpg ... the three slots on the front of the PC. c01179822.jpg Step 7

Slide the hard drive cage down until it snaps into place. c01196499.gif NOTE: Make sure the front tabs on the hard drive cage are correctly inserted into the slots on the front of the PC. c01196500.gif Step 8

Replace the two screws that secure the hard drive cage to the PC. c01179804.jpg Step 9

If you are adding another hard drive instead of replacing a hard drive, connect the SATA data cable for the new hard drive to the next available SATA connector on the mother board.

NOTE: The SATA data connectors on *********** board may look slightly different than the example. c01833532.gif Step 10

Replace the front panel and the side panel, and then reconnect the cables.

For more information about replacing the side panel and the front cover, refer to the HP support documents Removing the Front Cover and Opening the PC Case . c01179827.jpg Step 11

If using Windows, wait until Windows finds and configures the new drive. c00615034.gif

Installation of one touch mini 4

hello, if you are adding an extra hard drive for space make sure to change the teeny jumper to the proper pins next to the connection slots on the hard drive. the jumper makes your hard drive work as a slave (extra drive) or a master (main drive). if you have a main drive allready on your comp and you dont switch the jumper the slave position the computer will not recognize it becuase of the new hard drives jumper being in the master position or pin connector.
if your installing it as a 2nd master drive you need to use your extra hard drive slot on the mother board for this to work as a secound master then you need the jumper in the master pin slot. there is a small diagram on to the hard drive info label it looks like pins and it shows you where to locate or place the jumper for either master or slave.
for a slave drive once you have placed the jumper properly then you can instal it on the same cable with the main. look at the cable it will have a main and a slave small label printon the connector or if you prefer you can use the 2nd hard drive cable on the secound slot on the mother board turn on your comp if you are going for a extra hard drive the comp should recognize it if the jumper is properly placed. when your comp is running you can check by going into (computer) and it should be there as a new drive letter

after this you may need to format the drive for use. you right click on the hard drive letter and choose format drive

hope this helps good luck with your upgrade.

Lacie 250gb designed by porshe: how to open

First, sorry for my English, because i'm french quebecer. In The down side, you have (inside of the box) 6 PLASTIC pins to retain the cover. Don't forget it, you can slip the cover BY SIDE AND IN THE SAME TIME, at the each side, the pin is not at the same place. In the SIDE OF THE LIGHT, The FIRST pin is at 1 inch of the front side the NEXT ONE IS AT 2.5 INCH OF THE FRONT and the last one is 5 inch of the front. Put 3 smalls screwdrivers at these place and push them delecately in the outside direction. That's it .
