Your WEP security key is actually the password used to login your home internet Wi-Fi. You can ask the person who set up your home Wi-Fi for the key.

I have tried to set my playstation 3 online keeps asking for wep key what is this and were do i find it

Your PS3 is most likely trying to join a WiFi (Wireless) network. Sometimes WiFi networks have passwords to keep people out. The PS3 is asking for a WEP key because it is asking for the password so it can join that WiFi network and get online. Try to find your WEP key for your router. If it is not your router then you will be unable to join that network since it is secured.

My WEP key changed and I need to enter the new one into the ps3 in order to get online. How do I do this?

Hello,

In order to get to the correct screen to enter your wireless security key follow the steps below,

Turn on your playstation and go to Network Settings under Settings in the main menu.
Select Internet Connections tab and then select Yes when it gives you a disconnect warning.
Select Easy on the next screen then select Wireless for your internet connection.
Select Scan to bring up all available access points and select your home wireless access point.
Select your security settings and enter in your WEP key. Save your settings.

Afterwards, it is always good to select test connection.

My ps3 is asking me for a wep key and i cant find it

Type this address into your computers browser 192.168.2.1 from there you can access your routers settings. The wep key will be under security.Once you get the key you can input it on your ps3.If you do not have a wep key make one. Most gaming systems etc won't connect to a unprotected connection.

When trying too get online from ps3 by wireless its saying IP address timed out someone help...!!!

You are either using a false security key or the security settings are not supported. If it is a WAP key, you are most likely using the right key, it is just that the settings are not compatible with your PS3 system. If you are using WEP settings, check to make sure the security key is correct.

Connecting my ps3 to a philips router , what is a wep key??

WEP key is actually the network security key for ur wireless network,,if u have any computer which is online through the router u can find out the wep key.double click on the wireless icon on the online computer and u will find a box with 2 tabs,,click on the support tab at the top and u will find an option called default gateway,,preferably 192.168.1.254{preferably like this},,put this ip address in the address bar at the top and hit enter,,a box will come up with username and passwrd,,u hav to ask ur internet service provider for tat information and then after u get into the 2wire page u will find a option called wireless security, there u will find ur wep key,,or else if u look at the bottom panel of the 2wire u night find a 10 digit number which is the default wep key for 2wire netwrk,,best of luck, keep me posted

You can always press the reset button and wipe all settings out. You will have to re-enter passwords and encryption to protect your network.

Ps3 online

The wep key is what you use when setting up your wireless router, if you have forgotten what this is, you can reset the router by holding down the button at the back. If you haven't set up a wep key you can select none, or see if you can find it out from your computer/laptop.
