Bend open a paper clip. Next to the eject button should be a hole. Insert the paperclip and push on the lever. It may be difficult, but it should go.

On the front face place of your CD player, next to the button you use to eject/open the CD caddy, you should see a very small hole. Using a paperclip, insert the paperclip and gently press in the paperclip. It should release the caddy.

CD Drive not Recognized / Wont Eject CD

There is a small pinhole in the face of the dvd drive. Use a paperclip to poke into the hole. It will force an eject of the dvd drive. You can also explore the computer, right mouse click on the drive letter of the dvd drive, choose "eject"....
If it still will not eject, unplug the ribbon cable from the drive but keep the power plugged in, then press the eject button. If worse comes to worse, four small screws, and you can remove the shell of the drive exposing the dvd inside....
Good luck!!!!

XPS One will not read CDs or play DVDs

1.use original disc, bcz some brand drives not supported all the discs available in the market.
2.cheak with other disc,if any disc cant read ,then

* Open Your CPU system cabinet, then cheak the data cable and power cable of the Dvd/Cd Drive.(You may change the other power card in your system already had)

* change the data cable
3.if u still have the problem, then finaly replace the new drive.LG Dvd Drive is beswt one.because it can read all discs.

My daughter put two cd in my dell xps m1530.any idea how to get them out

Hi,
Please try the following:
On your dvd drive there is a very small pinhole. Get a paperclip and try to push it through. This pinhole is used for emergencies where the dvd drive does not eject.
Other thing you can do, is to turn your laptop upside down and remove the dvd rom drive from your laptop. Then unscrew the dvd drive to get the cds out.

Sim's Life Stories won't work in my DVD drive...

Check for a 2nd game cd in the case sometimes they have it hidden on the opposite side of the current cd. Iv got a few games that have up to 6 cds for installation because of the intense graphics. Sim Life Stories might be the same assuming.... because it is quite new... hope this helps if not then try updating your cd rom driver that might help as well

DVD burner doesn't reconize burned music cd's only shows them as blank disc

Have you tried to play burned music disc with other laptop? if it was able to play there then i suspected your dvd-rom drive is faulty.

To confirm, try playing different cds from your machine and check if it was able to read it.

Can't burn a CD with my Matshita drive, what do I do?

Have you tried different cds? If yes but persist try re-installing your burning software. If it still doesn't work I suspected your dvd rom drive is faulty. You might need to change it.

Note: no need to pay for a replacement if machine is under warranty.

Xps reformat

those question marks only indicate your system is not showing drivers for that hardware... last time I reinstall the os on a dell system dell made it a little bit tricky to reinstall the drivers... if I remember correctly you need to run the software on the cds to install the drivers (don't try to install the drivers with the windows wizard as probably the drivers are nicely packaged in the cd.) so look for some setup.exe application on the cd's you may have.. (assuming those are the cd's that came with your system) run it and follow the instructions.. from that point it should be straight forward.

if you don't have the cd to your system here's the driver download website from dell for your system
(check if it is your system first)

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&ServiceTag=&SystemID=XPS_PNT_P4_DXG&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

download what you need first and don't run everything at the same time. install one at a time and restart as prompted and then move on the next driver installation, until you get all the ? marks out of device manager.

good luck!

Dell Cd/Dvd burner not working properly

I have a Dell XPS 400 that's about 3 years old. I have a DVD reader and a DVD-RW device. The former works - the latter takes forever to read discs (particularly DVD data discs.)

I'm starting to think some of the generic DVD-RW devices Dell uses in its computers are prone to early failure. The DVD-RW in my XPS-400 was called "HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H21N".

I'm going to try cleaning it, and then just swap it out for a better device.
