This printer does not let you print if even one of the cartidges is out of ink. I suggest you replace them and then in the printer properties change your settings to the way you want color to be spent.
This could be a driver problem. Could you uninstall the driver and reinstall it. go into the printer and faxes and delete your printer and reinstall it if you have the origional install disk. Otherwise go on to the internet and download the driver from the makers site first before you uninstall it. You may have delete a part of the driver by mistake or maybe it got corrupt.

Most epson inkjets that use separate colour and black cartridges will not print if either the colour or the black cartridge is empty. The printers come with cartridges when new but they are only part full and more ink is used up filling the printer reservoir when first starting up. Replace your black cartridge and you should be able to print.
