I recently downloaded the map updates for my Garmin sat nav into my laptop in order that I might transfer them into my Garmin.
However, it kept failing everytime the maps were unpacked, and everytime I double clicked on the update to unpack it, it took up more more memory on my laptop.
I have no idea where the data has been unpacked to and I now have no memory left on my hard drive because these damned map unpacks have taken it all up.
Anyone have any ideas how I can find them and delete them? They appear to be hidden. I have deleted the actual download, its just unpacked data I need rid of now.
Cheers

- I will add that I have tried the disc cleanup several times and it has made no difference whatsoever.
I assume the unpacked data goes into some temporary file somewhere, but it is nowhere to be found!

- Not in My Documents. It is definitely hidden, I need to find it so I can delete it.

- Using the start menu search doesn't find the hidden files

- Not in Garmin folder. I am running Vista Home with a dual core processor.

- This was the most helpful and relevant solution of them all.
However, I'm still stuck. I think a reboot is in order!

- Did you try this solution to check your temp files?
Right click any part of your desktop screen and select New Shortcut then type this C:\Documents and Settings\(user name)\Local Settings\Temp
Do a search from the start menu, all files and folders, keyword Garmin, or the name of the map package. You should be able to delete the files from the results, if not, then write down the file path and delete them manually.

- In the search, there is a box in the advanced tab that allows the search to find hidden files and folders. The advanced tab is bellow the keyword box. Try the search again using this advanced search feature.

I HAVE A MICRON Trans Port TREK 2 model no. NBKU376. when i first got it it had windows 98 well ive installed xp on plenty other computers before, and have the factory os disk. so of coarse i wonted to upgrade. so i put the disk in and booted from disk then formatted with NTFS and went to setting up. well it goes all the way threw the file coping and reboots itself and gets to about 34 minutes on the setup complete countdown and goes tl black screen. thought it was just going to suspend or something but either way the only way ive found to get it going again is to hit the power button, it then starts off at the countdown again and repeats itself.
