Question about Memeo Instant Backup v40 3User

I just reconnected my GoFlex 500GB harddrive onto my PC, but when i tried to back up my new files, Memeo Instant Back-up said "Please connect your storage device to resume backup". I restarted the PC and restarted Memeo, but it still doesnt seem be able to find my hard-drive. I can connect to it through "My Computer", and i did a test on the hard-drive using the Seagate Dashboard which said it was 100% fine. But it still says "Please connect your storage device to resume backup." I dont understand whats wrong. Help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Seagate goflex 500GB portable hard drive deleted or currupted system files so windows won't detect it.


Try a remote access data recovery service like http://FreeDataRecovery.us

They do online data recovery via the internet and also offer do-it-yourself data recovery assistance.

Memeo Instant Backup is not detecting the connection to my laptop, but my laptop detects the connection to my FreeAgent GoFlex


click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or


if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver


if this fails to fix the problem

check usb leads for secure dust free seating

sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable


just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,


check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems

you might have to install a usb 2 or 3 card they are cheap and easy to install you can buy these on Ebay very cheap

I can't get movies on my GoFlex Hard Drive


you might need some certain programs to play the movies
IE adobe direct X media codec or an updated media player

You can recover data from formatted hard drive with data recovery software.But you can't get your data back for free. However,there are a few honest software publishers that can get the data back for a discounted fee, though. I know that Tenorshare Data Recovery is only $24.95 right now, which is pretty cheap in my opinion.I used it and it worked. How do I restore the backed up files back onto the PC.

My pictures are not being backed up. Memeo gives message stating failed to back-up. Error (9) is displayed


Failed backups can usually be traced to your antivirus running in the backgound. if you have any active antivirus and spyware detection running then stop them before you backup. Should work ok then.

My Seagate Freeagent Goflex 1Tb external USB hard disk is not detected when connected. but the light on the diskdrive comes on. Pls advise.


Hello Gravi,

Please try one of the following options.

Try different USB ports.
If that didnt work, then try updating/reinstalling your USBdrivers.
Try after these options a reboot first.
