Hi,
Sorry, but the fridge is probably ruined...
the hole left the freon out and the rattling compressor may have been that dying because of the lack of refrigerant in the system...
To repair it at any rate, will cost almost as much as a new refrigerator...

Place the mixer bowl in the freezer. The amount of time required depends on the temperature of your freezer, but you should expect to leave it in the freezer for about one day prior to use. To check if the bowl is frozen, shake it gently. If you don't hear any liquid sloshing around inside, it's ready to use.

  • 2

Place the mixer bowl onto the motor base when you're ready to make ice cream. Insert the mixing paddle into the bowl and place the cover over the bowl.

  • 3

Turn on the ice cream maker and pour the ice cream mixture into the hole at the center of the appliance until it reaches the fill line. Do not exceed the fill line, as the ice cream will increase in volume as it freezes. Use the low setting if you want a firm ice cream and the High setting if you want a softer consistency. Do not add nuts, candy or chocolate chips at this stage as they can become hung up in the mixing paddle and stop the machine.

  • 4

Cover the center hole with the cap and allow the ice cream maker to run for 30 to 45 minutes.

  • 5

Add mix-in ingredients such as nuts and candies two minutes before shutting down the machine.

  • 6

Turn off and unplug the machine prior to removing the ice cream from the bowl. GE recommends using plastic or rubber utensils to avoid scratching the inside of the mixer bowl.

    Gets only cool not cold

the thermostat is supposedly right below the BLACK switch knob of the unit.

it should look like this if you open the unit up.

but before you open the casing, try to refer to CuisinArt's warranty terms even if you lost the proof of purchase for the unit.

    good luck

Ice cream does not seem to freeze it is always very soft. Everything else freezes O.K.

hi icecream generaly depends on the mixture & consistency need more clarity....

All fresh ice cream is somewhat soft, but should not be liquid. It will never be hard like it is in store. Let it churn until it is the consistency of soft ice cream, and then let it harden a bit in the freezer to get to the consistency you want. It's possible you actually let it churn too long and it started melting again.

Another method I used is to just put the ingrediants in the bowl, put in the freezer, and then take it out of the freezer and churn it myself, moving a butter knife around the edges to get all the frozen parts out, then a fork to mash it up. The ice cream takes less time to freeze and is generally harder

I lost the instructions for the Baskin Robins ice cream maker. Are there some available online?

General Ice Cream Maker Instructions... This should give you the general idea on how to use any ice cream maker. Typically, the ice cream straight out of the maker will be soft so the ice cream typically goes into the freezer to "set"/harden the ice cream.

The ice cream maker should have a container inside of the larger outer container. The ice cream mixture goes into the inner container and the outer container holds the ice-salt mixture.
    1. Prepare your ice cream mixture and chill.
    2. Pour the chilled mixture into the inner container about 3/4 fulls.
    3. Insert the Mixing paddle and cover the inner container
    4. Turn on motor and while it's running, add 2 inches of ice on the bottom of the bucket. Sprinkle about 1/4 cup salt over ice. Continue layering ice and salt until the ice level reaches the top of the rotating ice cream can.
    5. As the ice cream maker runs, add more ice and salt to ensure the ice level is above the mixture level in the inner container.
    6. In about 20 to 40 minutes, the ice cream maker should stop churning.
    7. Remove the lid and pack down ice cream in the can.
    8. Cover and place ice cream can in freezer for several hours to harden. http://www.epinions.com/review/Baskin_Robbins_Ice_Cream_Maker/content_25404149380 The instructions are on the "mix" packs, all you need is the half & half, rock salt and a freezer. Freeze the canister, insert the canister into the receiver, add the mix and the half & half (on the pack), cap it add the ice around the canister, add the salt over the ice, turn on the machine and stand back.

New motor makes loud noise when operating

Use a food grade grease to lubricate the gears. The newer White Mountain freezers have Chinese made motor drives and are a piece of junk. Don't confuse the newer models with your old American built machines. If it's still under warranty contact the manufacturer for warranty repair. Read the most recent customer reviews for the 4 & 6 quart electric freezers on Amazon and other websites. You will see a rash of motor failures!

Cuisinart Ice Cream Freezer Bowls Not Freezing Anymore

I would take the freezer bowls out of the freezer, run them both under the sink to thaw both bowls out, dry both bowls thoroughly, and then set them both on the counter so that the liquid settles toward the bottom of the freezer bowls. After 1 hour, place the bowls FLAT back into the freezer - don't forget to wrap them in a plastic grocery bag or some other sort of plastic bag. Try to make ice cream again after 24 hours or more of freezing. Let me know if this works, so I can pass the good news along to others.

Freezer seems as if it is not cold enough

Your sensor is packed in ice and giving false reading (always frozen)

You NEED to defrost. Will take 2hr

Turn off or Pull plug on freezer
Take everything out and put in cooler, brown bags, large bin or boxes to stay cold
Defrost by setting large pail of boiling water in each side bottom of freezer and closing door(s) for 1/2hr
Open freezer, empty pails in sink and use pails to hold large chunks of ice from freezer that will come out easily
    Toss out ice chunks
Check sensor to be sure it is no longer packed in ice
    Wipe down interior dry
    close doors
    plug in
    wait 1/2hr
reload with stuff you want to keep
    Done!

Undependable freezing - sometimes will, sometimes won't!

High room temperatures will throw this unit off BIG TIME. Just to give you an idea how sensitive the freezer bowl is - if you run cold water along the freezer bowl before putting your ingredients in, the COLD water is enough to unfreeze the bowl! Don't remove the freezer bowl from freezer until you are immediately ready to begin mixing - not 5 minutes earlier.

Ice cream has ice crystals in it

Ice crystals are more prevalent in homemade ice cream because it takes longer to freeze the mix. When you can flash-freeze the ice cream to very low temperatures very quickly, there is less time for the molecules to melt and refreeze, which causes crystal formation.

    ice-cream-ice-crystals-in-myawdgdmzywgx1pl2igmxr0v-3-0.jpg
Here are some of the useful tips:
1.) When the ice cream is done, transfer to the coldest part of the freezer as quickly as possible
2.) Pre-freeze the ice cream bowl before using, and pre-freeze the storage container before putting the ice cream in it and into the freezer
3.) Make sure the mix is very cold before using the machine. Maybe put the mix in the freezer for 15 minutes before starting the machine, so that it will finish faster

Hopefully this information helps a lot.
