Question about Computers & Internet

Open Question

Philips computer battery not charging: I have a Philips Freevents laptop and two batteries for it. Suddenly last week one of the batteries, which had been fine up until then, stopped charging. The icon says: "0% remaining (charging)." But it isn't charging. I've tried my spare battery; same problem. Since it seems unlikely they have both collapsed simultaneously, I can only assume it's a software problem. Any idea how to fix it?

SOURCE: fujitsu lifebook t4020 battery connnection/charge problem

So, "all three batteries" suddenly get this zero charge. That is VERY "incriminating". Almost 100% certain you have either a connector problem (most likely) or a power regulator circuit failure (less likely). Get a flashlight and magnifying glass, and look deep into the battery compartment at the connector. Almost certain there is some bent pin or other irregularity there. If so, be careful straightening it out. Disconnect PSU and still, be careful not to cross-connect two connectors. Even though PSU and battery are removed, there is still a small battery inside that keeps that circuit alive for clock and PRAM settings... don't want to short that circuit out. Work only on one pin/strip at a time. Hope this is the problem. Because if it is the regulator circuit -that is a motherboard matter. Major repair, usually not worth the cost. But I really think that scenario is unlikely, unless you caused some serious short recently. Let me know what you see inside.

SOURCE: Philips Freevents X56 laptop won't switch on!

Take it back to the shop. The Sale Of Goods Act says that goods have to last for a "reasonable" time. It is not reasonable for a laptop to break after 18 months.

or search for "Sale Of Goods Act".

It is possible, however, that the power button is broken. Try getting some compressed air to blow out any gunk from underneath it. If the laptop supports it, remove the keyboard any make sure you don't have biscuit crumbs under the key.

The X60 is actually the "Twinhead Stylebook 10D", under the brand of "Philips". Everything you need can be found here: " "
I had exactly the same problem after a hard disc format, and I was searching for many hours for the solution. After I installed these drivers, ALL the devices are working perfectly!

Do you still have the old battery. If so charge it, and see if it charges properly. If so then you have a bad battery.

Have you seen inside a laptop battery, it's not just a battery. It also has control circuitry inside, could be that. Not usually repairble but you can do some makes of battery. See here:Circuit.

try this. remove your battery and plug in the ac adapter. If it starts and operates normally then you know it's not the AC adapter.
if your lucky enough to know someone with the same AC, borrow it. plug it in and leave it for an hour or two with the battery installed. unplug the ac and try running it off battery . if it works- not the battery-

Could be anyone of a number of things related to internal batteries. Let it charge for a while (does the charging light come on on the laptop? - isn't clear if the green light is on the powersupply or the laptop itself) and trying again.
