Sorry man, that board's highest cpu is Pentium 4.
To get more kick out of it, you could upgrade the RAM to 2Gb.

Hello I was wondering what is the best cpu for this Laptop. All i have is a P4600 celeron, I cant find information about the motherboard from samsung. I presume the motherboard is a BA92-07852A.

I have chatted to a guy Dinoop P from Samsung support.
He could only confirm that max mem was 8GB. He said CPI couldn't be upgraded, but referred me to buy the Repair Manual from their outlet, which is also known ad J&J

CPU world says "
Q: Can I upgrade my Celeron P4600 microprocessor? A: Probably yes. Processor compatibility is determined by your motherboard. Please check CPU-Upgrade.com resource for CPU support list for your board."
on
Intel Celeron P4600 Mobile processor CP80617005307AB
and at the bottom of that page lists CPUs which physically fit into the motherboard, and are electrically compatible with the CPU socket. This does not mean they are compatible with the m/b (though it likely that some are). You might find a post in a forum somewhere )like the Samsung forum) describing a successfully upgraded CPU

CPU compatibility issues

the cpu test is something a computer does to test the board. it sounds like there is something wronge with it. pentium 4 boards very with the clock speed. it depends on the age and if it can handle. if you went from a 1.7 to a 3.2 than you might be overloading it not allowing the computer to register.
basiclly what you need to do is get you a board that is already set-up for a 3.0ghz or higher proseccor.

even through it is a p4b some of the older models can only be upgraded to a 2.0ghz.

5 socket mother board using 2800+ processor failed. Can i get a compatible mother board.

yes you can! compatible motherboards are cheap and easy to find for the socket 754 design compatible with your cpu. with prices going from anywhere from ~$50-$80. great places to shop include frys electronics, newegg.com, amazon.com and tigerdirect.com. when something like this happens to you its always a good idea to consider upgrading your computer as well you can find cpu motherboard deals anywhere from $100 to $200 with a huge boost in computing power. if you choose to go this route make sure your ram will work on the motherboard you are considering. goodluck

I have an Intel D845HV motherboard running with a

In short, yes you can upgrade to a P4 cpu but from the compatibility chart at Intel support, it looks like the upper limit for this older board is the P4 2.6GHz.

Note: Even at that, running the P4 2.6 would require a BIOS upgrade to P12 or greater.

Luckily, the following link has the information you seek: (for BIOS info, click the "BIOS Version" link in the upper right corner of the compatibility table provided)

Intel D845HV CPU Compatibility

I hope this info is helpful!

hello, i would install the cpu you wish to use, then see how it runs. and then do a bios update. this may work,if not the motherboard may not be compatible with the cpu upgrade, (propriatory equipment sometimes does not allow such upgrades) like hit or miss! i hope this info helps, and you get the dell to accept the faster cpu. good luck! glen

Problem with upgrading processor

Sounds like the processor you're trying to upgrade to isn't the same frequency. The processor, motherboard, and memory have a matched frequency. For example; a motherboard with a frequency of say PC4200 will only accept a processor and memory of a PC4200 frequency. If you try to use PC5300 memory it basically won't do anything, blank screen, or maybe a beep. The same if you tried to use a processor with PC5300 on the PC4200 board. The best way to find the frequency rating is to look on the memory. They class the memory by frequency, but rarely ever list the frequency for the board or processor. Research the new processor to find out the memory class and then see if it matches the memory in your machine. If it doesn't then the processor won't work. If it does, then new processor may not be compatible, and that means more research.

CPU upgrade

Your motherboard has a good support for various Processors. If you want to go for the latest then you can go for Palamino core Athlon 4.Its compatible all the KV7 series boards but all you have to check is "Till WHAT clock speed can your board support?" .

Sai.
