Dyson 25 canister release spring

It should be placed behind the catch (button). If the button retainers are not broken off, just place it under the catch and snap it back into place.

How do I FIX MY DYSON DC14 VACUUM

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC14 - it sounds like this spring may have come out of the clip which secures the Telescope Reach wand in place. Normally the spring will locate behind the clip, keeping the wand locked securely onto the main body of the vacuum until you remove it for above-floor cleaning.

We'd be happy to talk you through replacing the spring - if you have further difficulty in doing this, you would also be able to order a replacement wand if needed.

When you have your DC14 easily to hand, please give the Dyson Customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Do you have an address or phone number to order these parts. I love the Dyson but unable to use do to the grinding noise which sounds like the machine is going to eat the carpet and everything else. Mary

Hi Mary,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. The grinding sound you hear may be caused by the brush control system - it's designed to make a ratcheting sound to warn you if something in the cleaner head is jamming the brushbar. The easiest way to check for and remove any obstructions is to follow the simple steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=804&product=DC07-ANIMAL_US

Hopefully this should help you resolve the issue. However, if you've followed the steps shown above and are still concerned, please get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and provide further assistance. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

Loud noise when I start the vacuum in carpet position

It's most likely the Belt Slip Protection Dyson uses to prevent the user from having to replace belts. I recently bought a Dyson and love it other than it literally sits there and makes horrible noises 80% of the time. I completely disassembled the vacuum and found that the spring they used for this belt slip protection is WAY too weak. The weak spring seems to let the belt slip protection pop off way too frequently and unnecessarily. I stretched the spring back out and whammy no more horrible clanking. Of course it'll take you a couple of hours, some good tools and some serious ingenuity to get to where the parts are but problem solved. It'll still ratchet when picking up a sock or dog toy or something, but sitting there ratcheting on short dense carpet is unacceptable. Hope this helps!!!

Loud noise

I think you damaged the belt. I ran over a sock once and it made a grinding noise but still worked for several months after the incident. Finally, the belt broke off. I had it replaced and now it doesn't make that sound.

Suden loud noise when vacuming carpet

Hi.

Check that brush roller (beater bar) is free to turn with no obstruction.
If it is still noisey after doing this try this site for Dyson repair manuals.
