You have 2 ways to upgrade from vista to windows7: 1- instaling windows7 from vista (this need to insert setup dvd of windows7 while windows vista it's running and choose to upgrade to windows, but this you can do only if vista and win7 are both 32 bit or 64 bit, you can't upgrade from 32bit to 64 bit), but i don't recomand this way because all programs installed on vista will remain on hard drive as a folder and you lose some space on hard drive. 2- clean install of your copy of windows 7. For this before you start install widows save all your data from partition C to another partition. After that insert your windows7 setup dvd and restart your computer. When your laptop is starting you will see on screen "press any key to boot from cd", just hit any key to do this. if you can't see this message go to bios and change boot option to boot from cd/dvd. For this restart your laptop and hit F2 or DEL key while restarting depending of what chipset your laptop have (try both) and go to boot and there you have instruction of what key to use to change option at the botom of the screen. Now i give you step by step instructions to install windows7: -after boot you will see a window "Install windows", here you can choose language, time, and keyboard type then click next -in next window click on install now -in next window you have licence agreement, click i accept and then next -from next window choose custom install -then choose from the right side "drive option (advanced)" -choose disk0 partition2 (usually is second option, just watch partition dimension, if you have more of one partition) -then choose format -click ok in next window -then click next -now your install is started -after restart write user name and computer name and clik next -type a password if you need one or leave space empty if not and click next -write your windows7 serial and click next -choose first option for windows updates -choose your time -if your windows installed any network driver in next window choose were you use your laptop -thit's it now you have o fresh copy of windows7 Good luck!

Try to set compatibility for vista or even older (e.g. XP) and tell us if this works!

Tip

Network Windows 7 with Xp and Vista

Windows 7 includes a new way to share data between all computers in the house with the Residential Group. But only when computers running Windows 7 may join the Group residential and enjoy the new features of sharing, playing multimedia files remotely, etc.. If you have computers running Windows XP or Windows Vista networking with Windows 7, you can still share your files and printers in Windows 7 "old" by following the instructions in this case practice. Below are the steps to do the same.
Check the workgroup:

To be a network, your computers with XP, Vista and Windows 7 should be part of the same workgroup.
Click the Start button. Right-click Computer (My Computer in XP) and click Properties.

In the Settings area of the computer name, verify the name of the working group. The default name is WORKGROUP but you can customize it by clicking the Change Settings button.

Make sure it is the same on other machines on the network. Under XP, the information is in the Computer Name tab.

Enable Sharing:

To enable sharing in Windows 7, you must change the settings of the Network and Sharing Center.
Click Start, then Control Panel.

Click Network and Internet and then click Network and Sharing Center.

In the left column, click Change sharing settings advanced.

Verify that the options Enable network discovery, Enable file sharing and printer sharing and Enable so that anyone with network access can read and write are checked.

Click Save Changes.

PLEASE HELP!!! Sharp AR-BC320 printer! We purchased this printer and do not have the installation cd that came with it :( Can anyone please please please help?!

If you manage to locate an Sharp AR-BC320 printer driver CD it may not have a Vista driver but it definitely would not have a Wndows 7 version and Sharp would not create one for this old printer.

I have found a lot of people are having problems with printer drivers for old printers with Windows Vista and Windows 7.
I suggest you purchase a new printer that support Vista and Windows 7.

Eease help meMy loptop has two diferent accounts my husban and me all photos are in my husband accounkm his account m his account i t when i tried to upload pictures from his account into my profile im...

A possibly solution would be to create a folder outside both your accounts to store photos in.

  1. Open My Computer (or Computer in Vista or 7)
  2. Open Local Disk (C:)
  3. Right click and choose New then Folder
  4. Give the folder a sensible name such as Photos
  5. Go to your husband's account and open Start menu
  6. Right click on My Pictures (Pictures in Vista or 7)
  7. Change the path to your new folder eg: C:\photos
  8. Windows will ask whether you wish to move the contents there, choose Yes
  9. Log out of your husband's account
  10. Log into your account and open Start menu
  11. Right click on My Pictures (Pictures in Vista or 7)
  12. Change the path to your new folder eg: C:\photos
  13. Windows will ask whether you wish to move the contents there, choose Yes
  14. Whenever your husband downloads photos into his account they will be accessible on both accounts.

Lag lag

Have you tried to review the systems requirements for Windows 7? In case you don't, try to review this system requirements and see if your PC falls in. If not, then its the primary cause of the "lag" computer.

If you want to run Windows 7 on your PC, here's what it takes:
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Some drivers are packaged as 32 or 64-bit. To find out which architecture of Windows you're using, check out this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218. Note that the instructions for Vista are the same for 7.

Cant get Windows 7 desktop PC to recognize Intel Webcam. It worked fine with Vista/Yahoo IM

Hi again

Thanks for the info. After much reading I'm pretty sure driver support was stopped at Windows XP. Therefor this camera will not work with either Windows Vista or Windows 7.

Your only solution is to but a new one that is Windows 7 compatible.

Scott.
