If your sure the unit is getting the correct power, check the ground cable, make sure it is connected to a clean surface. (remove any paint where the ground is connected.) Double check your wiring. Make sure all of your connections are good. Do not forget the fuse holder, check it too.

I have two kicker cvr 12s how will I hook them up to hit the hardest with a jl audio 500/1

you would want to bridge them you take 2 pieces of speaker wire long enough to reach each sub and connect one side to the box and the other side of wire to the sub then you take your other speaker wire and hook it up to the sub you already hooked it to then run positive and negative to the other sub

I have a jl 500/1 pops fuses some times could it be im pulling too much power from the battery because i dont have a cap or extra battery im running at 2ohm with a 15 inch kicker l5

Seems like the KICKER is pulling to much power try to knock it back up to 4ohm and see what happens. If its fine that way then you might need a bigger amp.

How do you properly bridge a four channel kicker 350 watt amp? I am running two 10 inch JL audio w1s.

Left ( + ), Right ( - ). If your not sure about Front or Rear.. Then just see where your RCA's are plugged in. Should say Rear Input, or Front input near them.

2 L5 12'S 2OHM

I like JL Audio's products and in this case a 1000/1 would match these subs really well considering that each sub is rated at 600 watts RMS. I know that you want to bring these subs to the max and if you're not worried about blowing them up you can use two JL Audio 1000/1's, the JL amps have something called ohm matching and can put out 1000watts RMS at any load between 2ohms and 16ohms. A very use full feature - as well as a subsonic filter that can keep out the bass you can't hear and thus keep your subs alive longer especially if you plan to max em' out. Check out Ebay for good prices on JL Audio. Another choice might be an Audiobahn 2300, or preferably an 1800d. D class amps are best for max output and I've wired an Audiobahn 1800d down to a 1 ohm load (to two dual 4 ohm 15" Cerwin Vega Strokers paralleled down) and it was able to stay alive, but this was not used for prolonged listening (Short bursts for SPL comps). Good luck and I'll leave you with an old trick I used to use on my clients SPL Comp cars. Run an in-line fuse to each sub - start at about a 100amp fuse (1,000w @ 12v = 120 amp draw) and move it up if it blows too early, fuses are cheaper than subs! Let me know what box you are running as it must be built specifically for running the subs all-out. You can e-mail me @ (dynami28@charter.net) for free specs on basic enlosures.

Bass sounds muddy and volume is minimum.

Hello mercedesman4,

Your setup sounds great. I had to settle for Blaupunkt in my Mercedes.

It sounds like the culprit is your enclosure. It's possible that by tweaking the settings, you could improve the sound somewhat, but having been used to the sound of a sealed enclosure, maybe not. Sealed enclosures tend to produce tighter, more accurate bass and have a flatter frequency response curve. They are also generally the enclosure of choice when looking for a SQ (sound quality) oriented setup.

Ported enclosures will produce louder bass than sealed enclosures, and maybe that's why some audio guys push them. They also allow the speaker to operate more efficiently, so you need less amp power for a given volume. Higher tuning on a ported box will get louder, but at the expense of sound quality. Lower tuning will still get louder than a sealed box, and the sound quality will be better than a box tuned higher, but still not as good as sealed. That's what I meant about tweaking the settings. You may see some improvement by setting the crossover lower, decreasing bass boost, or by turning the subsonic filter on/off. I'm no audiophile, but personally I've never been able to stand the sound of a ported enclosure, however it was tuned. Sealed just sounds better.

Hope this helps.

500/1 v2 and one kicker VS12L7

It will work fine. This amp is stable to 1.5 Ohms, but is designed to put out about the same amount of power at 2 or 4 Ohms (unique).
