Question about Computers & Internet

Purchased a Gear Head webcam WC745blu 1.3mp, it came with a mini disk to install software. I have a standard cd-rom for standard size disks so I cannot install drivers with this disk. The website does not list drivers for this model. I have tried the "add hardware" tool on my cpu but does not work. I have submitted this problem to their tech support but to no avail. How can I use this disk or where can I get this driver? tyvm for your help, Ron

Well the disk actually works on most standard CD-ROMS. Purchased a Gear Head webcam - paper_bag.jpg If its cd-rom that is used in laptops (extremely thin) it should also work but you can always find a computer with one of these trays and then copy the contents.

The Standard CD/DVD-ROM disk are capable to handle both the disks type you are talking about. Please eject your DVD-ROM drive and put the driver CD in the center of your DVD-WRITER. Look carefully that there is a circular slot to setup the small disks. Now close the DVD-WRITER slot and you can then install the drivers easily.

Hope this helps,

How do i install the very small cd for my webcam 1H-3W00DB with only a large CD-ROM drive? is there free software anywhere on line i can inall instead? thank you. teri r.

Open the tray on your CD-ROM device.
Look closely -- this is a circular depression in the center of the tray,
which is _exactly_ designed to hold a mini-size CD-disk.

Or, if your computer is a "slot-loading" device, i.e., there is no slide-out tray, there is just a slot into which you insert the CD, like putting a coin into a parking-meter, then you need an alternate approach:
* find a friend with a CD-ROM device _with_ that tray.
* copy all the files from the CD-disk onto a USB memory-stick.
* move the memory-stick back to your computer.
* install from the files on the memory-stick.

My cdrom on my laptop will not hold the mini cd driver disk, how do I get the driver?

Yes it will. In the center of the drive there is an indent that the disk will fit in and will function properly.
All CD/DVD drives have this capability.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

I purchased my Microtek ScanMaker 3800 many years ago. I still have the installation CD. Recently I purchased an HP laptop running Vista. My question: is it all right to plug in the scanner directly...

First connect your scanner to computer with usb cable.
Then insert disk in rom then install driver and software from disk.
It is not matter that first you connect scanner or install driver but if you connect scanner first your computer recognized it then you can install driver from disk.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

Preinstalled Office home and Student 2007 backup copy

When you purchased your computer, the vendor-supplied "System Restore" set of CD-ROMs were used to install both the Windows operating system and a selected set of additional software, which includes that version of Microsoft Office. So, those disks are your backup.

Thus, taking a different set of Microsoft Office CD-ROMs, such as one purchased from a retail outlet, and trying to use the listed product-key with that "retail" set of CD-ROM disks is *NOT* allowed by Microsoft, as you have discovered.
