Question about Whirlpool Duet 7.0 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Plus Electric Dryer

1 Answer

In the last few months (5 yr old machine) the dryer takes forever to dry normal loads. I usually have to run it twice to get permanent press type clothing dry. Is this normal wear on the machine, or is there something I should look for?

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

make sure that all the seals are ok, door, front and back drum seal, blower housing seal(inside dryer). also consider that depending on washer type if you overload or have a worn drive belt in washer it will take twice the time to dry. also make sure that the dryer drum tumble. open door, press door switch and start dryer to see if drum turn. lastly disconnect vent pipe behind dryer and dry a load. if it dry ok then you have a partial blockage. you can also have a weak heating element.

My Bosch dryer never seems to get very warm. It's an Axxis. I've only washed about 10 loads. It seems to take a long time, and when I take the clothes out, they are cool to the touch. Even when I touch the...

Hi,

There are a few possibilities here:

1. Washer/dryers generally take longer to dry clothes than a stand-alone dryer so if you previously had a stand-alone and are now using a combi, this could be the reason.
2. There are usually at least 2 heat settings on a dryer, so maybe you have it on a cool setting?
3. The last part of a drying cycle (5-10 minutes) is usually cool - even when on a high setting. This helps to reduce creasing and cools metal parts such as zips and buckles for saftey. This could explain why everything feels cool when you remove the clothes.

It's possible your old dryer didn't have the cool final setting and/or it was higher power than your new Bosch and therefore dried the clothes quicker.

If your new machine is taking an eternity and your clothes still aren't properly dry, then there may be a fault with your dryer thermostat which is switching the heating coil/element off at too low a temperature. However, I suspect your problem is related to information I've written above.

It would help to know whether you have an Axxis washer/dryer or just a dryer. If the information above doesn't help you to solve your problem, please post back with details of your machine, including the model number, if possible.

Regards,
BElectric.

Hi, sounds like a plugged vent. Pull the dryer out from the wall and disconnect the vent.Clean out any lint and make sure you have good airflow to the outside.

Our dryer takes FOREVER to dry. Over an hour and a half for permanent press???? I am always a wet load behind. We have cleaned out vents. The dryer does get hot.

Is the dryer vented properly to the outside? Feel the amount of air flow when it's running and empty. It should be substantial. If it feels weak, you need to take the back off the machine. There is a metal 'box' that is connected to your vent line going out. Take the cover off the 'box and it is probably full of lint. This blocks the exit air and causes your problem.

I ALWAYS START WITH VENTING WHEN CALLED WITH LONG DRYING TIMES BUT I HAVE SEEN WHERE ONLY HALF OF THE HEATING ELEMENT IS WORKING, WHICH IS PRETTY RARE. A NORMAL LOAD WOULD BE WHATEVER THE WASHER HAD IN IT WHICH WOULD BE LOOSLY FILLED TO THE TOP ROW OF HOLES IN THE WASHER TUB. THE ONLY OTHER QUESTION I WOULD ASK IS IF THE WASHER SEEMS TO BE SPINNING OUT PROPERLY AND IF THE CLOTHES ARE GOING INTO THE DRYER TOO WET.
