i tried to go online to order it, look in the box, and call home depot to ask for the info, but none of it helped, so i read a tip from fixya and it said, to go to home depot special order center, and ask for SKU 568-978, so i just want to make sure thats the right number for the lighting kit for the altura fan, can someone answer me asap, thanks

Just bought the fan and an $8 dollar harbor breeze light kit from lowes. Fits perfect matches finish perfect. For anyone reading this that does not know how it works the very last piece at the tip unscrews. There is a hole big enough for the thread on a light kit to fit in. Pop the two wires in and you are done. Its simple so don't let the custom order light scare you away. Lowes part was 4 light clear glass black light kit. Part # 156605

The front desk at Home Depot was able to show us a small picture of the $49.95 light kit. They told me that it handles three (60 Watt) E17 bulbs. They however told me that the number to order is HD 569358. Maybe the number is different based on finish. Mine is oil rubbed bronze.

Go to the special order desk inside any Home Depot and ask for SKU 568-978 to be ordered for you. The cost is $49.00. We currently have one on order. Unfortunately, we have yet to see a photo of it, so have ordered it sight unseen.

Just got one of these and although I like it I wish it had reverse on the motor so I could use the wall switches instead of the remote. But in answer to your question just about any light kit that home depot sells will work on the fan. I got one that was an amber and white bowl with attachment hardware in 4 colors (one close to the altura). I believe there is a specific lite for that fan but as I said you can use what home depot has if you like it

Since Hampton Bay is an exclusive house brand of Home Depot's, if they don't have it, there may not be any available.
I would check with them directly (in person/by phone, their website does not show all products) since it would be logical that light kits would be applicable to more than just one model.

My Hampton Bay, Altura 68 in ceiling fan (Model # 26668) has bad MR77A This receiver has been discontinued. Does anyone know of a "universal" receiver that well replace it?

Home Depot has drop in models that will work for your application. You will have to remove the old and wire in the replacement inside the fan housing.

Fan won't reverse though it has before

It could be 1 of 3 things. 1) Receiver unit, 2) Sender (Remote), 3) Motor. For my brand new ceiling fan it turned out it was the motor.

Altura 68" fans will not operate on high speed.

I jtoo, ust bought The Altura (68" fan from home depot)
Home depot makes hampton bay through various chinese manufacturers.................
The fan ran slow on high speed, and barely ran on medium or low.
home depot gave me a number for their tech department that knew right away.....that the capacitor(s) are defective in many of the Altura fans.
They are sending the capacitors in 3 days to me no charge.
They are located under the fan ( remember the white square plastic plug you had to connect and the 2 wires for the optional light kit?.....)That plug is for the capacitors that everyone is having a problem with.
My guess is they are under rated for a fan that big and are sending better ones to those with problems.
Hope this helps.
The number is:

Does the altura 68 in turn slower than other fans? I was thinking that there was a problem at first, however the air flow seems better than smaller fans...

yes some fans turn slower. usually the larger ones have slower speeds. If you are happy with the speed you have then just enjoy it.

Just curious about one thing. Do u have the fan on a dimmer switch?

Hampton Bay w/ remote and will not reverse.

To eliminate this problem and any humming noise, remove any wall switch that turns off and on the fan, just remove the switch from the line and use the remote to operate the fan.

Altura 68" Ceiling Fan

That's because it's 68" across, even though it uses the name motor inside as a 52" fan.

High speed only 60rpm

I too just installed a 68" Altura and noticed a huge difference in fan speed. I spoke to a rep for the manufactorer and found out that the high, medium, and low rpms are 70, 45, and 25. The typical 52" fan has rpm speeds of 190, 130, and 75. The kicker is airflow. The 68" moves 7,808, 4,417, and 2,953 cfms on high, medium, and low; the 52" fans move 5,503, 4,087, and 2,509 cfms.
