Question about Samsung MC5694 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Hi there, I've just moved into a new apartment and the Samsung Timesaver microwave seemed to be working fine yesterday, but it has been beeping at odd times for no reason. I turned the power off to stop the beeping, but now the buttons don't even respond when I press them. Can't microwave anything now though the light still comes on, and it's still beeping for no reason. Is there anyway to reset it or solve this? Thanks!

Hi, this is usually a bad touchpad. The way to tell for sure is to kill power to the unit, take the control panel down and unplug the ribbon connector that connects touchpanel to the clock. Put it back together and reapply power. The clock will just sit there blinking and, obviously, the buttons won't work, either. if the beeping stops, then the touch panel is bad. And If it still beeps, then you have a bad clock.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Hi there, I've just moved into

Hi, well, this microwave is beeping to tell you that it has had a component failure, and to "Get it serviced". What has most likely happened, and is the commonest occurrence in my shop, is that the Magnetron and/or the High Voltage Diode have "Blown". This is usually due to age or power spike and surges.
MW are one device, imho, that MUST be serviced by a professional, (MW's kill more servicemen a year than any other single thing!) So it is my professional advise is to contact a Samsung local or head office, and ask them for a referral to an authorised servicing center. Now, when there, FIRST only ask for a "Quote" as to the cost and type of repairs involved.
This way you can first make an informed decision as to repair or replace. i say this as many, many, clients of mine, these days, prefer to put any monies that may have been spent on repair, be put towards a NEW unit, with a full warranty. Further, new research has shown too, that repaired units will always fail again in average within 12 - 18 month after repair.. So?

The code indicates a possible shorted membrane switch. Unplug the unit for at least 30 minutes to see if the code clears. If not, you might actually have a shorted switch.

I have a Timesaver 1000w Samsung microwave. Just started to get error messages of p2 and p1 as I have lost the manual a long time ago could you explain what these codes mean.

There are no user serviceable part on a microwave and the screws holding the case are security screws. You are better off taking it for service.

There are fault codes here, but no P codes.

Possible that the belt has failed, the motor has failed or the fault is the drive in the board. You need to start by checking the belt and motor.

The SE indicates a short in the keypad membrane, but to cure this! the whole keypad control board should be changed if effort to resolve is decided, I would also suggest checking the pricing.
