1 Answer

I am trying to install Norton AntiVirus 2010 with Antispyware on my Dell Latitude C600 Laptop. It is running Windows XP Pro Sp3. When I attempt to run Norton, I get a setup.exe error message. Does anyone have any idea how I can go about resolving this issue?

I am glad to HELP YOU!

Before anything else I'd like to offer you something to READ about that software that it gives you hard times with the search engines... It's HERE. You will see there some explanations and some arguments.

And HERE could be your solution.

I'd suggest you to get rid of that USELESS software and try a good antivirus/antispyware like AVG Free Edition [found HERE] or Avira AntiVir Personal [also FREE and downloadable HERE].

GOOD LUCK!

I have an old Dell c600 and have just installed Windows 2000. My display is only taking up half the size of the total area - how can i expand it to fill the whole screen please?

Hi collywebs,

Go to this support site for the Dell C600 running Windows 2000. Not only can you download your video driver, but all drivers for your laptop, including all components. The video driver will be at the bottom of the page.
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&os=WW1&osl=en&SystemID=LAT_PNT_P3C_C600&catid=-1&impid=-1

If you have moved your operating system to XP/XP Pro, this same driver should work also. This driver should allow your display to fill the screen in the proper aspect ratio.

I hope this helps your situation. Thanks.

Regards, Bill

I have a dell latitude C600 and i want to redo the computer cause it has some software on it that i dont want on it but i dont have the recovery disk so is there anyway i can download the software to wipe...

Go to Dell Support and download (as in Save, not Run) all the drivers then burn them to a disk. Next borrow an XP disk from a friend and  reinstall with it and your key. Once the XP install is done run the driver disk. Finally install the Antivirus.
After that you can update windows and install whatever else you want.

Windows explorer not initiated at startup and hangs the system,

I had this XP problem with Norton recent after SP3 got on.
Clean install and no antivirus, straight afterwards a bootable CD with SP3 then I replace already removed Norton with Avast virus scanner.
Superfast, all problems I ever had gone. Likely the scanner.

Need a driver

The windows XP drivers should work on windows 2000 due to it being the same OS but different GUI.

For the DVD player, You can try XPcodecpack.com which contains alot of the codecs for decoding audio and video.

Help

Hi

I am afraid Dell did no plan Windows XP for Latitude C600 thus Dell has not made released certified drivers.

Generally, Windows XP SP2 should have most of the drivers built in. Reply if you have device(s) which lack drivers and I will get you the drivers at best effort.

Also, try Windows 2000 drivers. Normally it should work
