Hi and wel;cometo FixYa, I am Kelly.

When both the water in door and the ice maker do not get water the common failure is the door switch or door switch wiring.

The switch is item 608 this link:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5226718&diagram_id=23085527#d23085527

Only one side has a lock tab on it and you can release it with a thin knife blade to lift the switch free of the cabinet.
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3192880

Note the 3 terminals on the switch. One terminal is common.. one controls the operation of the light and the other provides power to the water in door and ice maker when the door is closed.
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=3192880

Find the switch... press the plunger in and see that the compartment light goes off. If it stays on the switch is bad. The light can go off and the switch still not porvide power to the icemaker and water in door. Use a meter and read the contacts. Find the C on the switch and read C to the other 2 contacts. Only one will read continuity to C with the plunger extended and only one will read continuity to C with the plunger depressed. Any other result = bad switch.

If you need mroe assistance or this does not resolve the problem just respond here and I will help you.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

No water being dispense into ice maker. It's doing it usual dumping & everything . The cold water dispenser in the door is working.

Probably a bad inlet valve on the lower back where the house water line hooks to the refrigerator. Its a 2 part inlet valve. Half feeds water to the dispenser and half feeds water to the icemaker. You can't change half--need a complete valve assembly. Not hard to change. Disconnect house line---unplug 2 wiring plugs (4 wires total) and disconnect 2 plastic water lines. Reverse to install---don't get wiring mixed up or reversed.

No water comming out from the dispenser

With a model number I can give you more specific direction however here is a start. Located at the back of the fridge, usually on the right side is the water valve. You can remove the plastic line that goes to the dispenser, not the supply line from the house or the line that feeds the icemaker. With this line disconnected activate the water dispenser and see if water comes out of the open side of the valve. If not you need to replace that valve. I hope this helps...

We shut the water off to our house while on vacation and now the ice maker won't work..did we burn up the motor? We didn't turn the icemaker off. Diana

I would check the water line coming from your house to the icemaker could be clogged. Sometimes when you turn off the water and later turn back on you can get debris in the line

My refrigerator water dispenser is not working. I

In the back of the refrigerator there is a water inlet valve. It will have three hoses one coming in, two going out. A 1/4 line for the icemaker and a 5/16" for the water dispenser. If your icemaker is working and you dont have water at the door the valve to the water dispenser is faulty, you need to replace the water inlet valve. If neither icemaker or water dispenser is working chek your water supply line

WATER DISPENSER NOT WORKING

It might be that you have a restriction at the water supply line serving the fridge. Check it for good flow (have bucket and towels handy!) If supply line is good, then move onto the fridge to check the water inlet valve(s). as newer models have 2 or 3 inlet valves, a main water valve for the entire unit, and possibly one each for the ice maker and water dispenser past the main inlet valve (solinoid).

You can check these by simply shutting off the main supply to the fridge from the house water line 1st, and then removing each water line from the supply side of the fridge and seeing if you have water flow from the house to the valve side. If you do, then reconnect the lines to the fridge valves and see if you can get water flowing to the other side of the solinoid/valve when you have someone try to get a glass of water from the water dispenser, etc.

It is possible that there is an obstruction in the lines, by not very likely. Normally it is a failed water valve(s) (solinoid) that causes low flow or complete loss of flow, especially if you've changed the fridge water filter or replaced it with the "cap" which eliminates filtering of the water.

It is that you'll likely have to replace at least one, maybe more, of the fridge inlet water valves. If you have the time, try to zero in on the failed one by bypassing each, one at a time, until you get water flow. That way, you'll only have to purchase just the replacement valve needed to get things working again.

Icemaker works; water dispenser not

You can get to it, it is just a matter of figuring which valve has gone bad. You may need to disconnect different lines and actuate the water dispenser to see if water comes out of the valve. You gain access to the valves from behind the machine by removing the access panel that is at the bottom

JCD2389GES water dispenser over-runs and also starts on own

Low water pressure can be very problematic when it comes to icemaker/water dispenser water inlet valves. If there is low water pressure to the valve, the valve may not seat correctly causing icemaker fill tubes to freeze, icemakers to over/under fill or water dispensers to leak or not shut off fast enough. Check the water pressure to the valve like this:

Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator and remove the water supply line from the water inlet valve behind the refrigerator.

Put the end of the water line in a bucket and turn the water supply on. There should be a good stream of water jetting from the tube. If there is not, the water supply shut off valve is probably plugged and needs to be replaced or there could be an in-line water filter that needs to be replaced. Only use a drill style (non-self piercing) saddle valve http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-584723-%3d%3di584723&PartID=584723 for the water supply.

If there is a good stream, the water inlet valve that the water line connects to at the back of the refrigerator should be replaced.

*Note: Reverse Osmosis (R/O) systems should never be used to supply water to icemakers.

Whirlpool icemaker

Try using an hairdryer or defrosting the unit completely , this often get rid of blockage caused by frozen lines fixing the problem.

The water lines can also be unblocked from dirt using a thin flexible shaft. This after defrosting.

If all that does not fix the problem, then you may need to replace the water valve, the icemaker solenoid, or the whole icemaker assembly.
