Brushes are on the motor at the opposite end to the pulley. job can be done with motor in situ, but you will find it easier to take motor out.
however, how do you know they need replacing as you obviously have not tested for continuity thro brushes to commutator?

E40 fault on zanussi washing machine is it worth repairing or to buy a new one 8-9 yrs old ?

A Zanussi E40 error usually indicates "Door open.Check interlock and associated wiring check door latch, check module and connections." However, what most people don't know is that most manufacturers route the poser to the door interlock through the same curcuit that powers up the carbon brushes on the motor. So if your motor brushes are worn down, the door won't lock. Your machine is about the right age for its brushes to be worn out, so I would check this out first. Motor brushes are cheap, easily available on Ebay and fairly easy to fit. Take the current brushes out, if they are less that three quarters of a centimeter long, changing them is a highly likely fix for your problem

I have a Zanussi FLS1183W aquacycle 1050 washing machine. It has stopped spinning and I suspect the carbon brushes. How do I access the motor to examine/replace the brushes?

There is no solid base to this washing machine so if you simply lie the machine on its side you can access the motor from underneath.

Hi zanussi fjr 1254 w error code e90 what does

This error code seems to be the control board detecting a wrong configuration (in other words, an illogical set of sensing conditions, from its connected sensors and wiring). It apparently can happen, when wires become badly contacting, or if contaminated with motor brush carbon (the horrible black powder that comes off the motor commutator and brushes), or corroded from other contaminants from the soap dispenser area. You should be able to check this, remove, clean and replace the contacts:
Thanks

Sounds like you have a clogged tube.Try cleaning out the dispenser, pour hot water into it then run threw a cycle empty setting on hot this may clear it out.

Zanussi nexus washing machine

almost certainly the door interlock faulty. fairly cheap part and easy to replace.
remove plastic clamp holding door boot to cabinet and peel back in the area of the door interlock. door lock is held in by 2 screws from outside which undo and withdraw lock. disconect electrical plug and small diameter tube at bottom. fitting new one is just the reverse

hiya

the first thing i would check is the motor brushes, as this can be a sign that they are worn down and in need of replacing. the easiest way to check is :-

1, remove the plug from the mains
2, tilt the machine back, making sure it wont fall on top of you.
3, looking under the machine the motor will be directly in front of you and the brushes will be on either side of it.
4, you will need a 5.5mm socket and a small ratchet to remove the screws.( you will only need to remove one brush as they wear evenly, if they are worn then BOTH will have to be replaced)
5, the brushes will just pull away from the motor, anything less than 10mm of carbon i would replace.

NOTE
on the brushes you will notice two small lugs, these are to ensure the brushes are correctly lined up, make sure when refitting that these are locked into their correct holes on the motor.

hope this helps

e90 means there is a communication error between the circuit boards inside. remove the plug then take the lid off the machine, remove the block which has the 5 (iirc) blue wires in it and give it a quick squeeze then replace, this should hopefully solve your problem.

hope this helps
