Cannot set the time on my kleenmaid la scala oven? Instructions in manual don't work? Do I need a repairman?

I have tried turning the power off for 7 minutes, and restarting. If I press both the oven start and stop buttons, and then the plus nothing happened the first time, - i have just retried it and it seemed to work it sometimes goes Ok and then stops overnight. I will let you know tomorrow.

Is it easy to remove the unit if it is broken - do we need to take the oven out of the wall.

    thanks

    Harvey

    hi

the oven clock seemed to be working after i reset it at 2pm yesterday,

it was working at fifteen minutes after midnight when it was showing 0:15,

but this morning the auto sign had switched on and was flashing, and the clock was showing 56:20.

So it seems there is a fault in the unit.

One thing you could help me with - how easy is it to get access to the erc itself. I suspect I will have to take the wall oven itself out of its recess. It may be more sensible to buy a new one than try and pay a repairman. What do you think?

    thanks, rick

I only saw your last comment after reposting.

I think we will leave it as is at present, as it is not only the timer that is a problem - the oven doesn't seem to heat up as quickly as the one in our old house. It all may be due to bad connections and a faulty erc, but we may leave it for now.

So thanks for your help. Greatly appreciated, and I will sign off.

However i am interested in whether you think repair is a better option than purchase of a new one in say a couple of years time if it lasts that long.

    cheers

If you are unable to set the time first try unplugging the unit for 7 minutes this causes the control to reset if after you replug the unit in you still have are unable to set the clock you can if you are electically inclined replace either the touchpad or the erc depending on which one has the fault on some models the erc (electronic control) has the touch pad built into the erc and you would order one piece whereas other units this is a two piece control and you would have to distinguish between which is the fault part if you have any further questions message me back I await your reply Thanks

yes you would have to remove the unit from against the wall pull it out pull off the top panel which would give you access to the control area I await your reply this sounds like a loose connection though from the touch pad to the erc Thanks Rick

    hey there harvey,

yes due to you saying the no or low heat I would lean towards the new erc as well or a transformer not supplying enough power from the erc as well if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to help others in the future you would rank this chat by clicking end chat accepting solution and picking how helpful this was if at anytime you have further questions you can always still post on this same chat Thanks

Kleenmaid Scala Oven. My oven will not turn on.

I had exactly the same problem. I followed the directions to reset the clock. That is the cooking button and finish cooking button. They look like a caserole dish and a casserole dish with a cross through it. Hold them down at the same time and the + and - button to advance the time. Be aware I had to try this a few times before it worked. Hope this helps, Dean
