Question about Canon MP640 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have a Canon MP640, when trying to print a PDF from my macbook pro it wants to use the back tray rather than the cassette under below. When I do use the back tray the PDFs do not print properly. Can I reset the printer as it was working fine? I have reinstalled the print drivers

    Hi still no good,

I tried this later last night and again this morning.

There is a message that comes up with an error of being the wrong paper size.

But it will print out fine from a HTML fine.

I reinstalled Adobe Acrobat thinking that it is software problem.

    But that didn't work either.

I checked the paper setting in page set up before printing and they are A4

    this is the error

Error Number : 1000 The following paper has run out. "Media Type :Plain Paper" "Paper Size :Custom Sizes" 1. Load paper into the rear tray. 2. Press the printer's OK button.

So under sufference I placed paper in the back to see what would happen.

    It printed but not properly

It printed part of the left hand corner of the documnet 3cm wide by 4 cm long in the centre of the sheet and that was it.

I can how ever print straight from the Indesign file. I do have quite a few PDF files and this will become a pain for me. Maybe I should try and reinstall the Adobe Acrobat again? with out it connected to the internet?

Look like there is something wrong with the printer. The troubleshooting steps i gave you is restore to factory guide. This will put the printer to factory default state with standard configurations.

Starts to feed paper and then stops and says it is jammed, it's not.

We have become aware of an incompatibility between the ZoomAlbum software and the Canon PIXMA printers listed below. This issue applies only when using the ZoomAlbum software to print Photo Album covers with Mac OS X.
Affected Models
PIXMA MP240, MP250, MP480, MP490, MP560, MP620, MP640, MP980, MP990, MX320, MX330, MX860, iP3600, iP4600, iP4700 Printers
Phenomenon
The affected PIXMA printers are designed to feed paper via the rear tray with a center-feed mechanism and two paper guides. However, the ZoomAlbum software was intended to feed paper from the rear tray in printers with a right-feed mechanism and a single paper guide. As a result, when using the ZoomAlbum software with Mac OS X to print Photo Album covers with the affected Canon PIXMA printers, the printed image may shift.

To remedy this problem, please use the following settings when printing Photo Album covers with Mac OS X:
1. Click System Preferences
2. Click Print & Fax
3. Select your Canon PIXMA printer as the default printer
4. Select DL Envelope for Default Paper Size in Page Setup
Note: Be sure to change the Default Paper Size back to Letter after printing the cover.

Printer says no paper, but there is. Problem loading?

If not paper jam may has some problem with feed rollers on printer.First make sure that option to feed from cassette is turned on.Check this on maintenance mode.Аs the printer is in warranty better don't touch anything else and call Canon.

Most of those have a button marked feed switch and a picture with a LED that either shows rear or bottom tray. You need to select the right tray on the printer panel.

We have a Canon Laser Class 700 series fax machine. When it runs out of paper in cassette tray 1 it doesn't automatically begin to use paper from cassette tray 2. Both cassettes have plain white letter...

Swap cassettes.. The side guides on one of them may not be tight against the paper.

Only put paper in the lower cassette and try to print a journal.

Print out a configuration page or parameter list to see if the machine knows you have two trays.
