The remote wire is the blue/white one. You can get the wire diagram on the link below page 15.

I change my kenwood kdc-mp145 cd player to a different car and says protected

make sure you have no shorted speakers or speaker wires. make sure you have no bare spots on your speaker wires. if you can, check to make sure no speakers or speaker wires are shorted to ground. If all checks fine, try pressing your reset switch.

I just bought a Kenwood KDC-X493 and installed it in my Alero. I hooked it up to an amp and a sub and it only works with the tuner and not and Ipod or an auxilary hookup or even a cd. what is wrong.

Hello jarhead455,

It sounds like the remote terminal on your sub amp is not properly connected. The KDC-X493 has a wire to turn on a remote amp (Blue/White) and a wire for a power antenna (Blue). If the blue wire is connected to the amp remote terminal, the amp will only turn on when the tuner source on the receiver is selected. If the correct wire is connected, the problem is most likely in the receiver.

If the receiver is at fault, not under warranty, and you still want to use it, you can connect any fused 12V+ to the amp remote terminal. A simple way is to jumper a short wire between the power and remote terminals. Wire the jumper through a SPST switch conveniently located so that you can turn it ON and OFF as desired.

Hope this helps.

No sound from my front and back speakers in my van ive got subs

Make sure that when you hooked up your 4 channel amp to the remote turn on lead it is the same as the sub. Only hook amps to the Blue w/ white strip. The solid blue is power antenna lead and will lose power when on CD, ipod etc and only stays powered when the Tuner is on. Hope this fixes your problem.
