If you go into "Computer" look for the drive, right click on it and click eject. Does it eject?
take a straitened paperclip and slide it into the hole and eject it manually. The hole should be next to the eject button.

If nothing works, I'd recommend you contact Dell for a proper repair - especially that you said it is new.

good luck,
Mark

I can tell you how to open the CD/DVD player manually. If the button does not work at all you may need a new unit. Hopefully your still under some type of warranty to get it for free but if you have to install a new player its not that hard to do.

To open your CD/DVD player you will need a small paper clip. Open the paper clip up so its a straight piece of wire. Turn your computer completely off. Look on the front of your CD/DVD player you will see a small pin hole opening. Push the straight end of the paper clip in that hole you will feel it contact a switch and the door will pop slightly open. At that point you can pull it all the way open. When you restart the computer it will automatically pull back in or just give it a push and it will close again for you.

If this helps you out please leave me some positive feed back.

How can I eject my dvd when OS is not installed?

The obvious - Use the eject button when the system is powered on.
If that does not work, use a straightened paperclip and manually eject via tiny hole in the front. Works on or off. gl

The eject button on the DVD drive diesn't work I know about paper clips but I really don't want to do that every time I use the NEW DVD drive (it does eject through the software)

This tells me that the DVD drive is functional but the Drive tray is not opening when you push the button. This in turn shows that the button is faulty. As the drive is New you have the option to claim warranty support, I suggest you claim warranty support as soon as possible.

Take care!

How do I eject a disk from my dell model 1737 studio lap top(window vista) . It made noise are clicking sound when it went in.

Hello Reg,

The CD/DVD rom is tray type then use a pin to eject the tray. There is small hole in front of tray plate.

Insert the pin in the small home and press smoothly and the tray will eject .

If the CD/DVD rom is different type then use long steel V shape clip to pull the disc.

If there is no physical eject button on your dvd drive, you can eject it with your operating system.
Go to My computer and right-click on your dvd drive. Your dvd drive should eject.

Where do I find the eject key to eject a cd from my Dell studio laptop?

Hi,

There should be a button on the DVD/CD drive itself, just push that small button and the tray should eject.
If you can't fine the button double click on "Computer" or "My Computer" highlight the DVD/CD in the list, right click on the DVD/CD and select "eject" from the list.
The tray should now eject.

Regards.

The cd is stuck in the lapptop, it does not come out when i press eject button. Dell xps M1530

Hi there.
Get a large paperclip and straighten it out.
It the CD/DVD has a flap that drops down, pull that down.
Look very close at CD/DVD you will a very small hole on the face of the CD/DVD (usually near the eject button) push the paperclip right in that hole to manually eject the tray.

Good luck
