Thanks for using FixYa.

An answer for your question about your dishwasher could be that your jets or spray arms are clogged.

1. Please look inside the dishwasher for obvious obstructions and turn the spray arms to make sure they move freely.
2. Now look at the bottom sprayer and at the little holes. If you see food or stuff in any of the holes, use small tweezers to remove.
3. Also look in the bottom area for items which may be blocking the water delivery hole.
4. Finally, look at the top sprayer arm. Using a flashlight, look closely for food or other particles which may be clogging the holes.

Let me know if this helps or if you have questions.

We have a GE Spacemaker XL 1800 Microwave. There is dirt and moisture that has collected between the inside and outside glass. How can you clean this?

HELLO.

This is the solution to the cleaning issue.

1. Wipe the microwave inside and out with a soft cloth dampened with a warm, mild detergent solution. Rinse with a soft cloth dampened with plain water. Dry with a soft, dry cloth.

2. Put 2 cups of water into a 4-cup measuring cup. Place the measuring cup in the microwave, then heat on high for 5 minutes to loosen food particles that are stuck to the inside walls. Leave the measuring cup inside the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes, then remove and wipe the interior as in Step 2.

3. Remove the glass turntable and wash it in the sink with mild detergent or in the dishwasher. Handle carefully, as the turntable is breakable.

Thanks.

It is an older model maching and it seems to be clogged and not cleaning the dishes..how do you unclog it

It would be helpful to know exactly what machine you have, but the bottom line is, you need to access the screen at the bottom of the machine, where the water exits into the pump. Many units have a macerator blade in front of the screen that chops up large particles of food so that they will pass through the screen. The blade is attached to the same shaft as the pump, which both supplies the high pressure water to wash dishes and pumps out the dirty water at the end of the cycle, and if there are small hard particles, such as bits of bone, plastic or broken glass in there, they can jam the blade so that the pump does not pump properly. You will need to remove the dish racks whatever covers, etc., are on the bottom inside the machine to get at the screen and/or macerator.

Microwave oven H-4020 BM...... How to clean inside????? I am unable to get the stains off and inside looks terrible.

First, wipe out any excess crumbs. Then fill a microwave-safe bowl with about 1-2 cups of water. Add some lemon juice, or put in half a piece of fresh cut lemon (squeezing some juice out first) into the bowl... Microwave until the water is boiling. Then let it sit for a few minutes to let the steam penetrate the interior. Carefully remove the bowl and interior tray. Wipe down the interior with a damp cloth. Wash the tray in the sink with dish soap, dry, and then return to microwave. For the outside, spray with a kitchen cleaner and wipe with paper towels. The main idea is that the steam from the water will loosen food particles, and the lemon will add a fresh smell.

XL1800 Microwave Problem

A LOUD ticking sound could very well be a High Voltage Arc. This is usually caused by a breakdown of insulation on High Voltage Wires, or components. It can also be arcing between the door frame and the cavity. Usually where the bottom of the cavity floor meets the door frame. Indication of this will be small areas on the door where it looks like the paint has been chipped off, but if you look close you will see it is small burned marks. Another area is the Splatter Shield located inside and at the top. It looks like a Plastic Cover. It is not plastic, but a fiber material. Grease, and food will get trapped on and under this Splatter Shield. Over a period of time the grease and food particles will break down from being cooked over and over again. They will then form Carbon. Which will Arc when Microwaves are present. Remove Push-Pins holding Splatter Shield. Clean by washing with dish detergent . If burned (arc) spots are still present after washing, replace Splatter Shield or arcing will continue. Once Carbon has burned through, it will continue to burn.

Microwave problem

That panel is probably mics, not netla, though it may look like metal. The job of the waveguide cover is to protect the waveguide (opening) and the magnetron from buildup of food particles and grease. When the grease and food particles build up on and behind the cover, they will carbonize and arc - and maybe even flame up! The solution is to clean it and keep it clean - but if it's too dirty or is burned, it must be replaced. Sometimes it's necessary to remove the cover to clean both sides of it, and to clean the edges of the opening it covers. It is sometimes held in place with a small plastic rivet (or screw) and once that is removed, the cover will slide over a little then drop down. Be VERY careful not to get cut on the potentially sharp edges of the opening, and do not spray anything into the opening. Apply an alcohol-based cleaner (such as the purple kind) and /or gentle scouring powder to a cloth or paper towel and carefully wipe it out, then when it's dry, reinstall the cover and the rivet. I suggest to my customers that they NEVER use any ammonia-based cleaner (like the blue stuff) on a microwave, since the ammonia will crack and distort polycarbonate plastics.

Microwave ovens

Can't tell you much about your little rectangle, but sparks can result from left over food particles that got carbonized, and a good cleaning might get rid of it, unless you like looking at the sparks(I heard you shouldn't stare at a microwave while working though, washing machines are safer). make sure you unplug it while cleaning or doing anything else, those micros are dangerous as hell. Take care
