Can you hear the fans starting up.....if you can plug your laptop into a external monitor and see if you can see it boot up...it sound as if you may have a short on the battery pack...

was taking a look at this for a friend.. and the friend has someone else looking at it now. The fans did come on but only with it plugged in. Was worried if i hooked it up to external monitor it could cause damage to that monitor...

anyway, i have only met this this guy a few times and likely wont be seeing him for a while, but should i see him again soon i will mention he should try that. thanks :)

My Dell laptop d600 suddenly shut off and will not power back up....led light on adapter blinks when plugged in...I have tried re-inserting RAM modules but this or nothing else seems to work.. thank you...

Unplug your battery and then plug in AC adaptor and see if laptop powers on. I assume you power button doesnt turn on at all? If so, your motherboard seems to have a power issue. Unfortunately, you have to replace motherboard. If laptop. powers on withour battery then you then battery needs replacement.

Dell d600 wont turn on after shutdown

Try pressing firmly on the keyboard around the 6 and 7 keys and pressing the power button at the same time. Works with my D600 which has the same problem. Apparently it is a common problem with something looses or not soldered properly under there. Will eventually get around to pulling mine it apart to see if I can fix the problem permanently but this "fix" has been working for quite while now.

No power

It sounds like there is a short in the power supply. If the laptop is still under warranty, you'd be best off sending it in for repairs.
