A "P Err" readout means there is an overload in the pump/master valve circuit. A readout of "1 Err" means there is an overload in station No. 1, while "2 Err" means an overload in station No. 2 and so on, depending on the number of total stations being operated by the controller.

An overload occurs when the wiring circuit is requiring more than .56 amps of current. This overload will typically occur when the field wiring or valve solenoid is shorted, or if the field wiring is a smaller gauge than required for the application and/or distance.

My hunter SRC lawn sprinkler controller sprinkles t

First thing to check is the power supply. Are the batteries fresh? Most likely you need to reprogram. There is likely a previous program that is causing the errant watering. Here is a good video on how to program.

How to wire hunter rain clik rain sensor to r8816p101c

1) There are different rain clik model numbers shown in manual
Open 24 volt Rain clik manual:
http://www.hunterindustries.com/resources/pdfs/instructions/domestic/lit358w.pdf
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Hunter-rain-clik-instruction-manual.pdf

2) The rain sensor has two wires.
And two additional wires are needed to run from rain sensor to sprinkler timer. For example, buy thermostat wire from local hardware store if wire is not supplied.

3) The rain sensor has a terminal block where wires are connected. .
Open manual above to identify markings on your terminal block.
For example Figure 1 shows SRC model, and with this model number, the rain sensor wires connect to terminals RS and C, and then two wires going to timer connect to terminals RS and and 1.

4) R8816P101C is 208-240Volt 24-hour irrigation timer.
Timer has two separate terminals for attaching rain sensor.

5) Timer power connections have 4 terminals. Do not connect rain sensor to power terminals.
Connect wires from sensor to the two sensor terminals.

6) Timer slide-switch must be set to ON position for rain sensor operation.
Sensor sends continuous 24Volts to irrigation timer.
When it rains, the rain sensor stops sending 24Volts to timer. Timer responds by not turning on power to irrigation pump.
To by-pass rain sensor, move timer slide-switch to off position.

7) Open following link for Intermatic replacement parts:

I have installed a Hunter psr22 pump start relay and connected it to a Hunter src irrigation controller and when I cycle the irrigation controller to manual all stations it will not start the pump. There...

So the mv and c are supplying power to the transformer/relay and out of it, but the pump won't start until the relay is forced.
I'm thinking the relay contacts are oxidized, and need to be cleaned. When they have oxidation, current goes up, and voltage might appear ok. If any start capacitors are in the circuit, they can be faulty, breaking down under a load, while reading ok. I haven't heard of any caps in these systems, but just in case.
The following blog may help you- it's about different controller situations:
http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/water/msg121639307045.html?9
Hunter's website has some things to check concerning the controller:
http://www.hunterindustries.com/resources/library/product_technical.html
Looks like it could be microprocessor lockup. It's quite a process, but here's what they say is the fix:
http://www.hunterindustries.com/resources/library/Technical/200611_hdln_micropro.html
Good luck, hope this helps, and thanks for using FixYa.

Hunter sprinklers vs rainbow sprinklers

I work with both Hunter and Rainbird irrigation components. Both companies have good products. But, I prefer Hunter for the sprinkler heads and Rainbird for the controllers and valves.
