I have a Briggs stratton 14 hp ohv I/c quiet model 287707. I had a guy change the oil & he put 10W30 synthetic oil in it. Now it smokes white smoke really bad. I think he put the wrong oil in

There is a very real difference between 30W and 10W30 oil. Whether it's synthetic or not probably doesn't matter. If you have the literature that came with the mower, it will tell you the recommended engine oil.
If they put in the wrong oil, they should make it right. You shouldn't have to pay twice for an oil change. It could be burning oil, since 10W30 is a lower viscosity than 30W. I would have them change it again, and see if it stops smoking.

Honda 5hp stationary engine blows milky oil in to air cleaner

It sounds like a combination of too much oil AND moisture in the oil. Completely drain it and replace the oil. Run it for 5 minutes and replace the oil AGAIN.

What type of oil do I use for Craftsman 42" Briggs & Stratton 17.5 hp Gas Powered Riding Lawn Tractor for oil change

Only use SAE 30 if using conventional oil. Briggs is real specific about that. I highly recommend using synthetic oil in ALL lawn equipment. You can use a multi-viscosity oil like SAE 10W-30 if you use synthetic, but straight 30 weight if using conventional. The brand is up to you.

Toro 20450 Recycler Mower with a B&S Model 12V engine...how many ounces of oil does it require

Most all of the smaller Briggs and Stratton mower engines require 20 ounces of oil. Use SAE 30 and I suggest using the Briggs Brand or synthetic. If you use synthetic, you can get away with using a multi-viscosity oil like 10-30W. But if using plain old automotive conventional oil, definitely SAE 30W only.

Type of oil needed

Briggs recommends you use as SAE 30 weight oil if using conventional oil. Multi-viscocity oil (like 10W-30) is acceptable if using synthetic oil, that is 100% synthetic, not a blend.

Which oil should be used for mastercraft 60-3975-8 snowblower

A good rule of thumb is: In 2 stroke engines, use synthetic or synthetic-blend 2 stroke oil
In 4 strokes, if it is cold, using regular SAE oil...SAE 30 only...if using synthetic oil (highly recommended), then you can get away with using a multi-viscosity oil like 10-30. Synthetic 30 weight is OK too. Just in cold temps, standard multi-viscosity oil does not perform well and manufacturers like Briggs caution against using it, stating engine damage can result.

Changing oil in Biggs and Stratton engine

Use 10W30 weight oil. The capacity is 1.5 Quarts (48 ounces) with filter change. I highly recommend you use 100% synthetic oil in an air cooled engine. Change the oil and filter every 50 hours of use.
