Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Notebook
You have a combo drive I ran into this issue myself and the fix I used was to redo the region and populate the ROM again. Virus would not have anything to do with changing this out. What I would do is there is a screw on the back side of the lap top remove it and pop the ROM drive out and place it back in again after you have removed the power supply and the battery out of the computer.
Now restart everything again with battery and power supply unit plugged back in. It should pick up the ROM Drive again. Now go to devices select CDROM drives and select properties and then select region make sure this is set to region 1 then go to populate. This should solve your problem with the ROM Drive. Please post a vote for me if this assisted you. Thanks for using FixYa! John
