It is common problem with this model Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S730 Digital Camera
It mostly means that Flash unit in camera id defective and needs to be replaced.Part number of flash board is given below
A1444049A... ST BLOCK ASSY
This is available online at Part Store.
If you are not comfortable with replacing flash board then take camera to qualified camera tech as camera will be apart for flash board replacement.

You must verify how you set the flash: auto, on or off. Set it "on" and try it. If it not work so, it's out of service. In "auto" mode it's possible to not work sometimes because light sensor.

The flash of my DSC-S730 is not working

Will not flash
Its known problem in DSC-S730 Sony Cyebrshot and you need to replace Flash circuit board in camera.
If you have experience of camera repair then you can do it yourself.
Get flash circuit board by following part number from Part Store.
