You did fine just lacking the sound card drivers what I do is download drivers from Click Here and place them on a disc. Then I insert the whole driver package I got from the site and click on the devices open them up right click update driver and point the missing drivers to the disc I just got from upper location. No reason to toss it if it is working. Sound would be the least of my problems drivers are easy to get and install especially for 98. If you can hold XP Pro that would be even better you can get it here as well just use keywords to locate what you need.

If this assisted you in anyway please cast a vote for me. Thanks for using FixYa! John

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

If your system came with Vista pre-installed it is likely there are no XP or eariler drivers available for it, in which case you will have to stick with Vista or Windows 7.

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100 notebook someone gave to me, it asks for a password, and I don't have it. How do I reset it?

Only way is to buy a parallel port (LPT) dongle designed for password removals, or make your own dongle (schematics free on the internet). I've seen these dongles as cheap as $10 on ebay, but I made my own in about 90 minutes.
After that, it's like ... plug the thing into the parallel port, turn the computer on, and the password will be gone.

No cdrom after installing windows 98

The problem is that the baseline W98SE does not recognize the drive ID as a valid drive. W98 knows nothing about DVD drives. You need to find the driver for the DVD. That driver will update the ID tables so that the OS will recognize the ID. WIthout that driver, you are out of luck.

CPU Upgrade

You pulled the processor out of your laptop ... that was a brave move ... generally laptop boards are fully integrated so there is very few options on changing the processor ... also because of the extreme heating conditions the heat sink bonding is very critical ... make sure you replace this properly or you will have overheating issues in the future ...
