I have horizontal lines on my monitor which is only a year old. I use a AGP graphics card which was also new last year and update my drivers, last update in Feb this year for the graphics card. I have tried all sorts of settings but it seems to be getting worse, not better.

Try to take out the graphics card and restart your pc on the onboard vga poart of *********** board.

If you are still getting any issue with your monitor you will have to take you monitor to the service station an if it fixes the issue you will have to replace your card ( ie you are having problem with your card not your monitor.)

What upgrade video cards are recommended for gateway gt5658e?

If you system is old enough to have an AGP slot in it, you need to buy a new PC. It is very likely your system is so old that AMD stopped provided support for the intergrate graphics and the blue tint is a result of the last time you upgraded the drivers. You can either install legacy drivers and hope for the best, or just buy an updated PC.

How do i find out witch display driver to disable so i can install new video card

You don't need to disable any driver, unplug, use ESD protection, install Graphics Card, move the monitor cable to the new card,(you may have to boot on the old monitor connection and install driver), install the driver for the new card and reboot plug into the new card. Do your windows updates to obtain the latest driver. You can open the Device Manager, open Display adapters and disable the Intel graphics adapter. Is it a PCI or AGP Graphics Card? Remember: with a Aftermarket Graphics Card it requires more Power/Watts, you should consider a PSU upgrade. You didn't post the Make, Model Graphics Card, usually there is a Min. Power Spec. for the card listed on the box.

I have just installed 'the longest journey'. The instalation went smoothly. The introduction screen is fine too. But ... when the games starts I have no picture on the screen. It shows as a black...

its either the game/ your current graphics card or your monitor.

try updating java and things of the like
also try replacing your video card, there cheap on newegg.com but determine wether its a pci (which is universal just incase you don't know), agp or something along the lines of that.
check your number on your old one and try to get one that is around the same range because you don't want to over work your computer or have cheapy graphics..

also if your monitor is dirt old it is hard for the screen to keep up with new age games because the older ones dont know what 3d is.. well it sometimes seems like that.

and like i said it could be the game try buying a new one..

I think the game you played has made your graphics card to fail. The graphics card has now be out of order. Consult your dealer for a replacement.

Geforce 3 analog output: I have horizontal, blurred/faint lines scrolling from bottom to top of display, spaced 6 inches apart.

what kind of monitor? Have you replaced the cable? Try the pc on another monitor. You need to see if it's actually the monitor or the video card. replace the broken or defective part.

Monitor screen freeze with driver...

hi! you don't need to update the driver cause the problem is in your hardware. Graphic seems to be a bit grounded, try cleaning the contact pins of your AGP graphic card with eraser, clean it side by side and then put it back again to an AGP slot, then boot your CPU again. If it still the same, try it in another motherboard that support you graphic card just to be sure before we conclude that its the graphic card has the problem. Anyway if it still under warranty you can claim for a replacement to the store where you bought the graphic card.  Have a nice day!

Distorted graphics

The 7600 gt can work on an agp 4x motherboard only in a 4x bus speed, if your just using the cd driver that comes with the video card try updating it by downloading the latest driver in www.nvidia.com, first uninstall the driver then restart the computer then install the latest driver you downloaded

Monitor displays vertical lines

Just an update. If that doesnt work then your vid card is damaged and you need a new one. Considering it is 128 mb it cant be too new. Also make sure if your motherboard is agp you get and agp card and if its pci-e get a pcie card.
