Question about Bissell 1699 ProHeat Clear View Upright Steam Vacuum

1 Answer

I have an upright bissell pro heat self propelled. I have had it for years and it has always worked wonderfully. Last time I was using it water started going everywhere. The self propel part is only working intermittently and neither the floor or upholstery attachments will suction. If i put my hand underneath it feels like it is blowing air and water. The top part of the machine with the handle(where you push it) appears to be loose. If I press it together and push it down the self propel seems to start working. Not the suction though. I looked for screws to take it apart and tighten it. But I cannot find them and lost the original manual. Could the loose handle be causing the problems? Help. jessica sicahere@yahoo.com

If the top portion of the upright section is loose, there is a connector between the two parts that is also loose. No need to take it apart however beyond removing the black lower hose holder.

To remove the lower hose holder, just push in firmly on the tab that is the same color as the upright casing until you can pop the lower holder upward and off of the machine. Beneath the holder are four screw holes where you can tighten the upper and lower assemblies back together. This will reconnect the two connectors internally and take care of any power issue to the base.

New replacement pump on Bissell ProHeat Protech not working

Not sure if I have the same model but this is what I found on mine this morning - wire to switch in the handle came off. Un-plug power cord. Unscrew top two screws on upright handle and remove the front cover above the trigger. see if wires are connected. top connector is not used - if you do solution will spray all the time. Good luck!

Bissell Pro heat 2x the shampoo tank empties out

the o-ring is likely dislodged on the screw on cap

personally I would recommend just filling the soap container with water and a little bit of white vinegar instead of the detergent. You won't leave soap residue in your carpet that way.

maybe there's not enough vacuum or it hasn't been primed enough. I have a proheat that drove me crazy till I started leaving the heat switch on. I get wads of carpet fiber that mat around brush and spit out on the carpet, so I frequently remove them. I'm just wondering if after you empty the water, it may not have built up the suction. Good luck! hope this may be helpful

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Bissell 9500 ProHeat 2X Clean Shot Upright. On the little black plug – they do wear out and need to replace it but use a genuine Bissell part when replacing the part other wise a replacement may not work. Q. #2 the little propeller spring usually is part of the solution tank and it is wise to replace the part with a new or a good used tank from Bissell, so check with your local factory authorized vac dealer that carries and services Bissell. I will give you the Bissell factory phone # listed below for further questions. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
