When motors fail, 99% of the time it was due to premature bearing failure, which was due to a faile shaft seal, which was due to either dry running, or chemical abuse, or a wearing wet end to the pump.
I install these motor at a rate of about 10 a week, and can say they operate great when taken care of. They do have a 1 year warranty if it was an actual failure, and should be taken back and replacced by the place you purchased it from if this is the situation. Emerson has a great warranty dept. and they support their products.

ive recently been servicing several pools in a small community that recently had several pumps replace with emerson pumps befor I started working them. I do agree with you that 99% failure is due to bearing failure but I have had 3 emerson pumps go bad in this community that just died. any Idea what is going on here I have had 2 of them checked out in my local shop and all looks good from the outside but they do not power up and they do not have an answer.

Is it possible that the motors your using are wired to the wrong voltage option?
If the motor is set for 220volts, but you connect 120volt to it, it will run for a day, or a week, or a month at 1/2 speed and then fail all together.
Check local on/off switches too to make sure that there is no bad switch cutting a 220volt circuit into 120volts or something strange like that.

Check the shaft bearings. See if they say China on them. I have a garage full of them I rebuild.

I think if it was bearing failure, the above technician would be able to figure that out as the impeller would be stuck or hard to turn.

Emerson pool spa pump leaking water-how to change gaskets

Emerson is not the name of the pump, that's the brand of the motor attached to the wet end, and the two together make a pump.
1081/1563 only means that it meets the standards for a pool motor.
provide make and model, for your pump.

Sounds like there is an impeller problem. A 1hp emerson should be fine. Take it apart and recheck impeller and diffuser. I am assuming they gave you a new seal to replace with the motor.

How to replace the seal on a amerson 1081 pool pump

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

What brand is your pump? Emerson and 1081 are motor related pieces of information. In general the process is the same for any brand...Disassemble the pump, lock the motor shaft at the end opposite the pump, spin off the impeller, replace both halves of the seal and assemble in reverse order. If you need more specific directions, please comment with the brand and model of your pump.

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!
