I just replaced the oven igniter in my maytag FCG20600B and it will not turn on. The Broiler igniter works but the oven igniter will not. is there anything else I can look at? Thank you Mike

Does the ignitor glow?if so make sure you installed it so it's sitting close to the tube,i've seen them put in upside down, also check to make sure the tube holes are clear so the gas will ignite next to the ignitor.you'll have to check with a meter to see if power is going down to the ignitor, you could have a bad relay in the clock assy.or remove the back and check for loose wires, also look at the tube,i've seen weak ignitors burn a hole into the tube.how did you connect the new ignitor, did you connect it with wire nuts,if so remove the wire nuts, make sure the wires don't touch any metal, with your meter set on volts see if power is coming down to the ignitor, also did you check your old ignitor to see if it was bad?set the meter on like 20k,touch the leads to the wires on the ignitor,if you get any reading it's good if it stays on1 the ignitor is bad.check the wires on the gas valve to make sure it's not loose

Maytag double electric oven. we turn on to bake and would switch to broil then will turn off.

Assuming this is on a gas range, the bake burner ( under the oven floor) and the broil burner ( at the top of the oven) have electric igniters . When switching from bake to broil the broiler goes off due to a defective or broken broil igniter. cheap part to replace ( +-$40.00)

I have a maytag model # mgr5775qdw and the oven will not ignite. I know it is not the gas line as the burners all light, and the broiler lights as well. It is only the oven that does not heat. . .what...

This could be two possible problems. The igniter maybe bad, but doubt it. The igniter works both the oven and broiler, I believe on this model. The first thing I suspect is the switch in your wiring harness. The harness has a switch attached to it for each manifold. The switch for your oven maybe out.

The broiler does not turn on in my Maytag free standing oven. The ignition light glows but no flame comes on. You can not smell any gas. Any suggestions?

The oven does not heat up for bake, but the broiler does come on. It appears that no gas is igniting for the oven

Oven Stopped Working..

It sounds like the igniter. The oven is not getting a spark to turn on, and heat up. We had the same problem, but changed the igniter, and it works fine. Good luck!

Oven won't light.

Localwonder gave a more comprehensive answer, but I wanted to share my recent related experience too:
Same model: MGR5750BDW
Oven was not heating up, or would sometimes and not others. Broiler worked fine. The nice thing is that the broiler igniter and the oven igniter are the same part. So I swapped them until I could get a replacement part.
Before I did anything, I turned off the gas!
To take out the broiler igniter: there's one screw right near the front of the oven that holds the burner assembly in place. Remove that, gently pull the assembly off the gas nozzle off to the left. Then where the wires from the igniter go into the back wall, remove the screw that holds the little door, remove that little door, and then gently pull the wires through until the connector comes through the opening. I also found you can go behind the stove, remove the back panel (which is easy) and see the igniter's connector.
The oven one: remove the floor of the oven by lifting it at the back, and then lift it out towards the back of the oven. Then you can see the igniter at the back of the floor of the oven. remove the two mounting screws, and then gently pull the wires until the connector comes through the insulation.
The bad igniter looked like it had burned down to bare metal in a big patch...not sure if that's the actual problem, but in any event, I installed the good igniter in the bottom (gently pushing the reconnected connector through the insulation, and feeding as much of the wires down in there as well), and the bad igniter in the broiler position (since that was the easiest one to access and replace, it'll be easy enough to replace when I get the parts). Tested, and everything worked great. And I could watch the bad igniter light up, and never light, confirming that it was the igniter itself that was the problem.
The best part, for this stove anyway, -- the ONLY tool needed was a #2 phillips screwdriver. Really. All told, maybe an hour of work, nothing intense. And free -- so if they both worked, it would have spared me ordering a part that didn't need to be replaced!

Maytag gas oven mgr5770abb Does not light when I try to use oven. Broiler works fine. When I try to turn on the oven, the broiler igniter does not glow. If the bottom igniter was bad, wouldn't the top one...

first I would check to see if you have power (120v) at the bake igniter..when you set in to bake...use a multmeter..(when you turn on the oven to bake only the bottom igniter will come )

good luck be safe

let me know if I can help
