Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

Hi, I own a GE Profile Side x Side Model # PST2756R55 in use since 05/2007 and today I notice that the temperture in the freezer was at 27*F, also the panel at the rear is frosty. I looked for an answer in the owners manual but could not find a direct indication of the situation. By the way I live in Puerto Rico. Thanks, PJ

    Hey KDrake,

I pulled the unit from the wall and just as you said there is a metal sheet compartment about 6x6 or so. What do I do now? I also checked for any infomation data sheet and found one in front of the unit underneath the grill frame "Technical Data" with this number 200D59895P002 for the Main Control Board Schematic

    Thanks,

    PJ

Hi PJ
This issue is very common.....however a more difficult task to repair for a D.I.Y'er because it is a GE product.

What you are witnessing is a non defrost issue. The refrigerator will go thru a defrost cycle maybe twice a day for 20 minutes each time. This is not happening with your unit. First thing we need to check is if your unit has a "MOTHER BOARD" on it. Pull the unit from the wall....if you have one it will be located 3/4 of the way down on most proably on the right hand side. It should be behind a panel maybe 6 inches wide and a foot long.

I'm having to ask you because the model number did not come up when I tried to bring up your parts drawings....maybe because it wasn't made in the U.S.

Please post results.

Thanks....
Keith

    Ok PJ

We now know we have a mother board.

I have the procedure on checking a no defrost issue in your model.

You will need a volt meter to check these parts on the board.

I will send a video on how to use one. If you decide to repair this yourself I suggest buying the digital meter to use. You will be able to use this meter on anything that has a electrical circuit.

After going through the videos you will have questions. I suggest watch the videos....look at the mother board print....then watch the videos again. They will mean alot more the second time around.

Then post your questions to me.

You will be checking the defrost heater....watch the video and the tech will show you how.

Checking the defrost heater is located on the lower left hand side of the board. The video will show you.

GE Profile Arctica model # PSS25NGMD - can't control temperature

Check the little damper door next the water filter at top inside the unit. You will have to remove the covers to get it. The little plastic ends will break off and then you can not control the temperture it act like a freezer. Hope this helps Also you can get this part online.
