Question about Maytag MBB2256G Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
As per your explaitions i can say that you had your gagket not fitted well so if you cannot do it yourself it requires someone with more experience than you.If you are sure that gasket is perfectly fitted proceed next.
If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.
check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it'll be the control.
You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer. If it doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.

Here is a link to your freezer basket area.

Is the basket part number 18?
If it is and the issue goes away when removing the basket then the issue has to be the basket.
The door is sealing and must be aligned properly or it would not seal.
Check the side slides where the basket is mounted. Ensure they are rolling back all the way for clearance of the basket. Note the left hand side then ensure the right hand side is going back as far as the left.
Ensure they are rolling freely without any restrictions. Ensure there is nothing in back of the basket to stop it from closing all the way.
Ensure the inside of the door has nothing that will interfer with the basket. Food, packaging,a shelf may have come loose, etc.
Ensure basket is not damaged in either the back or the front part.
If you have not found anything then take off the right hand side support bracket and inspect for any damage....try putting pressure on it to ensure that it will be mocking the weight allowing the sliding back and forth that happens when you open and close.
Do simulations with the basket in place rolling it back and forth....ensure there is as much weight in it as usual.
The answer to the problem is in the above....you just have to be a good detective.
Please post results.
