Question about Frigidaire 14 Cycle Tumble Action Washer

1 Answer

The door to my washer won't shut tight enough for the lock to engage. We replaced the locking mechanism on the door itself and it will run if we hold the door shut.

A possible simple repair can be attempted at the hinge of the door place a towel/washcloth/or other suitable clothing to add a soft jamming space and GENTLY!!! push the DOOR in an attempt to close it, place one hand at the normal closing area and the other opposite 1/3 of the way from the hinge. If there is not enough wedge fold over garment at hinge and make it thicker do this until door will close properly.

NEXXT 300 FRONT LOAD WASHER SHOWS CODE E-01. DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AND THE HOW TO VIDEOS ARE ALL FOR MACHINES WITH COMPLETELY ROUND DOORS, THIS MACHINE DOOR HAS LARGE PORT HOLE IN A SORT OF THUMB SHAPED DOOR....

Have you tried powering off/disconnecting the power cord to the wall? Then try plugging it in and turning it on - it may revert to the default "unlocked door" state.
If the door is still locked there is generally a manual release that is accessed from a panel that you need to remove below the door lock mechanism. On my model I had to prop up the front of the washer to access the screws - the panel runs the full width of the washer in my case. Once the panel is removed you should find a plastic rod hanging down from the lock that you pull down on - and then open the door at the same time.
My door lock mechanism went bad on my Bosch washer and I had to replace it - but it did give me a warning (though I wasn't sure what was going on at first). My washer makes a loud noise when locking/unlocking the door - that's the solenoid engaging/dis-engaging. In my case it started making that noise more than just once - first a couple of times, then 3 or 4, then finally about 8 times before it gave up the ghost a week or so later.
There are a bunch of videos online that are generic in nature about how to replace that door locks on front load washers... but essentially you need to remove the retaining spring/wire that is holding the rubber seal onto the washer opening, then peel the rubber seal away from the washer to allow access to the door lock mechanism. Replace and reverse the process.

Maytag Neptune MAH8700A tha detergent drawer is filling up with water and running out of the drawer onto the floor not going into the tub.

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Belt, Water Pump If the washer won't drain the pump belt might have broken or might have worn out. Check the belt and replace if it shows signs of excessive wear.

Drain Pump If the washer won't drain water the drain pump might be defective. It's also common for a small sock or other article of clothing to get caught in the drain pump or in the drain hose. Check both for an obstruction before replacing the pump.

Clogged Pump or Hose If the washer won't drain there might be a clogged pump or hose. It's common for small socks or other small clothing items to get into the water drain system and clog the hose leading to the pump or the pump itself. Remove the hoses from the pump in order to remove the article of clothing. Keep in mind that any water in the washer will pour out of the hoses when removed.

Drive Belt If the washer won't drain, should check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't drain properly, if at all.

Lid Switch Assembly If the washer won't drain the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't drain the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Drain Hose If the washer won't drain water check the drain hose. Be sure the hose did not get kinked behind the washer. Also, remove the hose from the pump and check it for obstructions.

Coin Trap If the washer won't drain the coin trap may be clogged. This washer is equipped with a device near the water pump called a coin trap. The purpose of this device is to trap any foreign materials that make their way down the drain. Normally, the coin trap can be accessed through an access panel. It is designed with the homeowner in mind and is normally easy to clean out.

Kenmore front load washer door won't latch lock light on

On some Kenmore front load models, if the black gasket around the door opening is unseated (for example, because you drag some heavy wet laundry over it) the door will not engage the lock and stay closed. This is a feature to prevent the washer from leaking when the gasket is not sealed. To fix it, simply reseat the gasket and the door will close and lock.

I have an HE3t and can't get the door to open. I have tried rewashing the load that is in there, and I have set and unset the lock. What's going on?

Try unplugging the washer for 10 minutes, plugging it back in and test to see if the door will unlock. If it doesn't then you have a bad door lock mechanism or contol board or both. You usually can manually unlock the door by removing the bottom front panel, with the washer unplugged, and reaching up into the door lock mechanism. There is a tab or ring on the bottom that you pull to release the door. Open the door and look for broken plastic pieces on the door strike or in the latch on the mechanism. Usually you won't see anything. If no broken pieces then remove the top panel, washer unplugged, and find the ccu. This is the main control board located in the back center of the machine. Check for loose connections at the ccu and for broken wires. Jiggle and push the wiring connectors into the ccu to make sure they are tight. Plug washer in and test to see if it started working. We have had a lot of repairs with this ccu unit as the relays on the board have a bad weld that gives an intermittent connection, causing this repair. If the washer works by plugging these connectors in tight then put it back together and use it. If it fails again then replace the ccu. In some instances the door lock mechanism can be bad. Unfortunately there is no good test for this. To replace the lock mechanism, you remove the top panel,(washer unplugged). Open the door, remove the three screws that hold the lock mechanism to the cabinet, unplug the 3 to 4 wiring plugs from the lock mechanism and install the new assembly. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Door lock mechanism

I had this problem also with my Maytag Neptune TL. The door lock would click muptiple times before displaying the FL code. I was able to fix this by removing the left door look(the one with the door close sensor) and cleaning the 2 metal pones on top of the left door mechanism, which had rusted and no longer was able to since the door closed. I use a nail file i sure eaither that or sandpaper will do. After that it went through the whole cylce without stopping or displaying the "FL" code.......hope this helps

Door wont shut properly and washer will not start

Is this a problem that just happened at once or gradually got worse?
Does the D/W seem to be installed tightly to counter??If it is firmly mounted than you need to take loose the screws that are holding it in place to your counter.Usually there are just 2 of them.Only remove these if the door seems to be hitting something just before it is shut.By opening & closing slowely I need to know if the door seems like it bumps the inside right before its locked.By removing the 2 screws that hold this snug it will allow the squarness of the cabinet to become free & the door will align itself.Alot of installers over tighten the legs & lift the dishwasher into the counter so high that it forces the door to miss the Latch.I'll help you through this ,so let me know ,Thank You!
