Question about Gigabyte GAH55MS2 Motherboard

1 Answer

Installed a new gigabyte h55m-s2 rev 1.3 in my system. BIOS is F4. Installed 2GB of EVM RAM, Core i3-540 processor, 450W PSU. When I press the Power button, the system beeps once. The monitor shows the processor name, motherboard name, bios version and bios date. Absolutely nothing else. And the machine freezes there. Can't enter BIOS either. Please help!

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS

the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram,all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk, and remains active untill turned off.
make sure that your RAM is securely seated
test or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive make sure the connections are secure including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA the ones that attach from your
((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they are probably old and faulty ?
hope this helps

if your processor is 45nm arch, update your bios on fabricant site, only same model. (is a risk if the power goes out during the process). There are three versions, confirm before proceeding.

I have a Acer AX1200-U1510A AM2+ Motherboard and i would like to upgrade the processor, ihave 4 gigs of mem and a 1 gig Gigabyte Gt 610 graphics card. I only have a 240 watt power supply what processo

Should work with a processor of the same socket type. I'd seriously upgrade the psu myself. Personally I'd upgrade the motherboard and processor to a quad core, and get the fastest ram, look at ebuyer.com, you can buy a bundle upgrade package for less than you may think. :)

Monitor goes into 'Power Saver Mode' on boot up!

You need to upgrade your motherboard BIOS to the latest version (V.5a) to support your DUAL CORE 2.5Ghz processor... that's the problem.
