Question about Heating & Cooling
The only thing you can do, other than pull all the wire out to test it, is check the temperature control. If you have another you know works or can borrow one to test the blanket, that's the easiest. Else, you will need to use a "Glow Stick". A Glow Stick is an electrical tester that does not require physical
contact with a bear conductor to detect voltage. They are available at
Hard Ware stores, Menard's, Home Depot, etc. Plug the blanket controller into the wall outlet and touch the 2 wires near the thermostat. If it glows, the cord is good and the outlet has power. Now test the wires coming out of the thermostat that go to the blanket. Turn the thermostat way up and down and see if the light glows. If no, the thermostat is bad. If it glows, indicating power has made it through the thermostat, continue to test along those wires to the blanket. If you have power at the plug on the blanket, continue onto the blanket along the wires that provide the heat. The light will continue to glow on-till you get to the break in the line. When the light goes out, that's the break point. If you do find a break in the blanket and would like me to walk through the repair, I will be happy to. The Glow Stick is a good investment for safely testing anything electrical without the risk of being shocked. Please rate this for me. I am new to the site and need to improve on writing what I am thinking. Let me know how it goes for you, OK?
