Hi

As you have already replaced these parts which I don't think was required so now test the parts first before replacing. Three parts are left before we come to a conclusion that it is the control board that should be replaced. First, test the thermister (part#15 in this diagram) for continuity, second part that should be checked is the thermal limiter (part#36 in this diagram) for continuity. If both of them are fine then check/test the door switch. Use your ohmmeter to test your switch for continuity. Begin by setting your ohmmeter to measure resistance at a scale of R x 1. If yours is a two-wire switch, touch each tester probe to each of the switch's terminals. You should receive a reading of infinity. While the probes are still touching the switch's terminals, press in on and hold the switch. The reading should change to zero. If the test you conduct does not produce these results, you should replace the switch. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Ge electric dryer. suddenly stopped working. Will

Hi Stv,
There isn't really major problem, but a problem.
You will need to unplugged your unit and take it apart. Are you handy?
If and when the unit is apart look at the motor and the fan exhaust and see if there is a coin or screw is jamming the motor or the fan
while you are in there you may want to clean it up,
That should be the problrm

I can here the motor try to run but it will not spin. I was using the dryer and when I removed one load and replaced it with a new load all it does is make a hum. The dryer is only 2 1/2 years old.

dryer belt is either broken, or came off of the motor pulley, check varify and replace if needed. If belt is ok, you may have an article of clothing stuck in the blower wheel, remove as needed.

Dryer won't start

belts, as in 2?? you do have an old speed queen. did you make sure the blower is able to turn freely?
if so then you most likely have a bad winding in the motor. it is costly to replace and you should go out and get a new dryer. too much money to fix this old unit.
by the way the model number is under the front panel in the center, on a metal plate.
doesnt matter since you know its 25 years old and its time to update.

if the motor buzzes when you push start then it is a bad motor.as long as the drum turns freely by hand.

IF IT IS A WHIRLPOOL DRYER, A FEW YEARS BACK THEY CHANGED THE IDLER PULLEY FROM A WHEEL DESIGN TO A TEFLON GLIDE. THIS DIDN'T WORK AND THEY HAVE GONE BACK TO THE PULLEY DESIGN. IC THE BELT BROKE OR BURNED IN TWO, YOU WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE BELT AND IDLER TOGETHER. GAIN ACCESS BY REMOVING TWO SCREWS UNDER THE LINT FILTER. LIFT OUP THE DRYER TOP AND REMOVE ONE SCREW FROM EACH FRONT CORNER HOLDING THE FRONT TO THE SIDES. THEN TILT THE FRONT OUT AND LIFT OFF OF THE BOTTOM SUPPORTS. NOW YOU HAVE ACCESS TO EVERYTHING.

REMOVE THE DRUM AND INSPECT THE IDLER. IT SETS BELOW THE MOTOR PULLEY AND KEEPS TENSION ON THE BELT.
