Frigidaire Gallery GLRT214RA Water is leaking. Noticed it gathering all the way on bottom under the vegetable drawers. Recently it also has water on the top shelf directly below the freezer. Freezer is still cold, everything else seems to be working fine (ie: my beer stays cold). Do not have the automatic ice maker hooked up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris

SOURCE: frost in top freezer - water leaking in refrigerator - ice maker not working

Hi,

If your frig is freezing the food in the chilling compartment as well as the freezer, it means one thing--its thermostat isn't shutting down the compressor when the set temperature has been met. You stated that you had it checked by, I assume, a professional service technician. Being a retired tech myself, I'm surprised that he didn't check this out and discuss it with you. Check the temperature IN THE FREEZER! If it is less than 10 degrees F., turn the thermostat to "warmer". If the temp in the freezer is 10 degrees F., leave it alone and go to the temp control in the frig, which is a damper that controls cold air flow from the freezer compartment. Close this damper until your temperature in the upper part of the refrigerator is 38 to 40 degrees F. If these efforts don't shut down the compressor and correct your problem, then the answer is simple. Your thermostat is bad and needs to be replaced. It isn't expensive, and should cost you less than the labor for a tech to install it. Good luck!

SOURCE: accumulation of water in bottom of fridge

You probably need a new door deal for the freezer. When you cet too much condensation in the freezer, it drains down the back of the refrigerator section during the defrost cycle. Check under the produce bins for a drain. If you don't have one, you're not alone. I used to have have to wipe mine out every other day until I finally replaced the seal.

SOURCE: Frigidiare PLHS39EESS9 Ice build up in bottom of Freezer

I had the same problem with my Jenn-air side-by-side

Your freezer has a defrost cycle and when the freezer temp is set too cold, your drainage pan and tube freezes up (behind the back panels in the freezer) and when that gets full it spills over too the bottom of the fridge and keeps building up until you notice.

  • Un-plug fridge and put your food in coolers or another fridge.
  • Defrost the freezer, remove the ice from the bottom.
  • Remove the back panel/s (in the freezer).
  • Check the drainage pan. If it is iced up, you'll have to carefully remove the ice and check the drainage hole.
  • If the hole is iced up, so is the first 1-2 inches of the plastic tube leading to the main drainage pan behind and under the fridge.
  • You can use a hair drier to speed up defrost.
  • To defrost the hole and tube I used round ended metal (nut pics or beater attachment ends- avoid sharp objects) heated up in boiling water and gently forced down into the hole and tube until defrosted.
  • Check flow(by pouring warm water) down and looking behind and under fridge(with flashlight) to see if flowing into main drainage pan.
  • Turn up your freezer temp and check with a thermometer. Your freezer temp was probably set too cold
Mine is going on 5 months with no problem. If this continues, it might be the defroster.
Good Luck!

SOURCE: My Frigidaire refrigerator side by side is freezing drinks.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Frigidaire Gallery model GLRT214RA. Why is my fridge leaking water in the vegetable containers area.

Question edited for clarity.

The Defrost drain is blocked. It is normally located on the outside rear. When it blocks, water runs into the fridge when the freezer defrosts, usually in the night. so you wake up and it's wet.

Water build up

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are getting puddles of water in the back of one of the bottom shelf and in one of the vegetable drawers in your Frigidaire refrigerator. I suggest putting the crisper drawer control on the Hi humidity setting. This should allow more moisture to escape out of the drawer and not cause as much puddling. Also, check your water filter and make sure it is not leaking, as well as any moisture from the ice maker. If further troubleshooting is needed, I ask that you please leave the model number of your washer. Typically, you can find this number inside your refrigerator on the liner walls. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Water leaking inside my vegetable drawer

Just above the drawers is a drain hole on the back wall. Push a drinking straw or very thin brush down to unblock the drainhole and the water will drain away outside the rear into a pan on top of the compressor

I have the Frigidaire refrigerator model GLRT214RA and there is a leak on the bottom by the vegetable containers and on the floor of my kitchen. I cannot see a condensation drain on either the fridge or...

Hello Abby, thank you for allowing me to assist you. It seems that you may have an obstructed defrost drain tube that is causing your water leak. It is also possible that the vent chamber between the freezer and the fresh food section has been used as a detour for the defrost drain water.

This happens due to the freezer drain tube having frost build up in the opening. Simply defrost the freezer by turning the appliance off and leaving the door open for 30 minutes. After defrosting the freezer, make sure there is nothing in the back of the appliance blocking the drainage way. Adjust the freezer dial to colder and the fresh food to cold. This should resolve your problem.

Should you need further assistance you can go to the manufacturer website to find a service provider in near you. If there is anything else that I can help you with, please feel free to reconnect!

Freezer door pops open when refrigerator door is closed and water is gathering under vegetable drawers.

Well the water gathering is probably the drain hole plugged,(under bottom drawer),its a round plug that sticks up a little,it turns out like a bolt,--now about the freezer door, how is the door seal?bad as in warped, torn, bent?incase you didnt know there is a magnet inside the seal.also check if the door needs to be re-adjusted
