They make cleaning sheets for the document feeder, which I'm guessing is where you see the junk. It's about $10 for the overpriced special sheet and some alcohol looking stuff. Outside of that, probably a wet paper towel and plain water will clean the glass. If you sent a staple or paper clip through the document feeder and have scored the roller deal, you're on your own :-)

How do I fix a dark streak down center of scanned document on HP laser jet 3330

Hello,

Lines and streaks are usually caused by ink or trash blocking the scanner pickup. You need to open the top of the scanner and clean the scanner glass. Here is a link to a guide that shows where to look for something blocking the sensor.

Try checking the ribbon cable going to the scanner head, it may have a bad connection causing an error as it flexes at a certain spot.

You need to download a "Twain Driver and Epson Scan Utility" from
the Epson Website.

But before you start downloading the Twain Driver we need to delete

4.) Disconnect the connection ( USB ) between the printer and your MAC.
5. ) Empty your Trash bin and restart your MAC

After the restart we can now download and install the Twain driver to your MAC.

Black line when scanning or copying

If the line only appears when the scanner is used & not when printing directly from the computer, you are correct in assuming the problem lies in the scanner assy. There should be mirrors attached to the scanner assy which will gather dust and cause copy/scan problems. Remove the glass & clean the mirrors with a DRY cotton cloth. Do not use any cleaning solution on the mirrors as they are sometimes treated & can be ruined if they come in contact with a cleaning solution. Use the dry cloth to wipe off the lens while you have it apart. Also clean both sides of the copy glass while you have it off. Reinstall glass & test.Cleaning the optics solves the problem most of the time. Good Luck!!
