1) Dirty water implies degraded metal inside unit:
The anode rod protects metal parts. Once anode is depleted, metal parts react with water.

2) Open following troubleshoot pdf showing Ariston parts

3) Ariston manual: Read manual cover to cover, make sure water heater receives yearly maintenance as outline in manual.

I have a new AO Smith Electric Hot Water heater. When I turn on the water, at any of my sinks, or my shower, it's very hot for a minute, then it turns lukewarm.

Your water heater may not have been installed correctly. You should get hot water shortly after you turn on the faucet. There may be a defective heating element or temperature controller. Also, the 50 gallon tank may be too large for your application.

I have water in the junction box on top of my hot water heater and into the electrical conduit leading to the hot water heater.

I do not see your earlier post with photo.

The problem could be the conduit.....
-disconnect the conduit and wires from water heater
-run wire into a junction box set lower than top of water heater... -then run another #10 wire from the junction box up to water heater...
-So if water is coming from conduit, it will accumulate into junction box and not in the water heater wiring cavity.

Next thing....
... a water softener can cause rusted tank.
-Softened water adversely affects anode rod...
-causing anode rod to deplete faster...
-once anode rod is gone, then tank begins to rust.
-Here are details for checking anode rod each 2-3 years:

Ariston GL6+ Occasional rusty water. Can this be remedied? Thank you Ed

Ariston GL6 6-gallon electric water heater has anode rod to prevent steel tank from rusting.
Once anode rod depletes, the tank rusts.
All tank-type water heaters have replaceable anode rod that can stop rusting, but will not repair damaged tank.
Open following links for resources + manual with parts number and illustration on page 7 and 10. Part number is shown as 570241 anode rod.

I have a Ariston Pro TI water heater. I am getting a lot of rust/junk/green/black, particals in the hot water plugging my shower heads. How do if fix this problem? Thanks Tom

If problem is hot water side only, then water heater is suspect.
1) If water heater temperature is set above 140F, it causes minerals to dissolve out of water.
2) If water heater is exposed to minerals in water, like hard water, those minerals will gather at bottom of tank.
3) If anode rod is depleted, the metal tank will begin to rust.
4) Combination of problems listed above.
To fix these problems, flush tank and replace anode rod, and possibly install water softener, install water filter, and turn down temperature setting.

Bubbling water at pressure releaf valve on top of valve. valve is rusted. rusty water in pan. Unit was installed new two years ago. Offer suggestions. Thanks

Rusted water usually means anode rod depleted and tank is rusting. Change 570241 anode rod every year or so.
Boiling water could mean bad thermostat causing run-away heating so water is released out of TP valve. Replace 994062 thermostat for 4 gallon.
Leaking water at TP valve could mean bad TP valve: replace TP valve with generic valve from hardware store.

My Reliance 606 40 gallon water heater only heats up enough hot water to fill a bathtub. We've drained it, the pilot light is fine, it heats up the water really hot, but it just doesn't seem to be able to...

How big is your bathtub? Is your water heater set on the hottest setting? What is the temperature of the hot water at the tap?

Keep in mind that hot water can cause severe burns. Children and those with diminished mental capacity can be seriously harmed by hot water.

The "40 Gallon" rating on the water heater is usually the amount of hot water the unit can produce in one hour. So the tank, and the amount of immediately available hot water, might be smaller than 40 gallons.

My bathtub is 2 feet wide by 1 foot deep and 4 feet long. This is 8 cubic feet or almost 60 gallons. So a 40 gallons of water at 120 degrees, mixed with 20 gallons of cold water (60 degrees), fills the tub with 100 degree water. My January cold water is 42 degrees, so it will take 40 gallons at 129 degrees to fill the tub. If the tub is cold to start it will take even hotter water.

So the water heater might be just fine.

Possible solutions:
1. turn the temperature up on your water heater- or the temperature control could be malfunctioning and not getting the water hot enough.
2. insulate your hot water pipes so that the water loses less heat on the way to the tub.
3. bigger water heater.
4. smaller bathtub, or less full bathtub.
