Question about Bosch WAS24460UC Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Our WAS24460UC stopped draining and showed F18. Occasionally it would work, but never enough to get through a full cycle. It is under warranty (purchased 8 months ago) and we have now had repairmen in four times. They replaced the pump, then replaced the hose attached to the pump, and now they want to replace the pressure switch. The repairman seemed to think that the pressure switch was unlikely to fix the machine, but he was not authorized to do anymore until he tried. It takes several days for the part to come. We have been without a washer now for over three months. Questions - (1) Is it normal for the repair cycle to take this long? (2) Are they approaching the problem correctly? (3) Is our machine a lost cause and should the machine just be replaced per our warranty? Thus far they have not been willing to replace the machine, but it feels like we have been sufficiently patient with the repairs and we are clearly not making progress. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, F18 is a drainage fault. The appliance has a set time to drain if it doesn't drain within that time F18 appears in display..

Open the small flap at the front bottom right of the machine. DONT unscrew the circular white knob yet!!! Use the small black hose to drain the machine into a tray, by removing the small cap on the end of the hose. You will have to use a tray, rather than a bowl because the hose is only short, and keep emptying the tray.(put a washing up bowl next to the machine, so you don't have to carry the tray.) If water does not come out of the hose, then gently unblock it with a piece of wire or fine knitting needle. When water finally stops coming out of the hose, it is time to gently unscrew the white knob anti-clockwise, and pull it forwards. Now you can clear the debris out of the pump rotor, which is behind the white knob. Check with your finger that it can rotate freely, then replace the white knob firmly. Make sure the small cap is replaced on the end of the hose, clip it back into place and put back the cover panel. If this doesn't work then there is a blockage deeper in the machine, and dismantling will be required.

From your explanation so far about the F18 and the various repairs that has been carried out on the washer which includes replacing the pump and replacing the hose attached to the pump which ought to solve the problem instantly, but has not then i think you should under the warrantly clause ask for a replacement without further delay because repair is not suppose to take as long as this under a normal circumstance and am not sure they are approaching the problem in the right manner because this is a factory fault problem that requires total replacement.. To make matters worse, even the repair man feels replacing the pressure switch will still not solve the problem.

Hi, My Bosch Logixx 8 is showing error F18 which I think means the filter is blocked. we have lost the manual so how do you get the filter out. Do we need to drain the machine first? Is there an online...

F18 is either the pump discharge is clogged or the machine is oversudsing. If it is oversudsing, make sure that you are using an HE detergent and use less detergent. (Make sure to note the minimum detergent line

To clean out the pump discharge, have a bucket ready for when you release the hose. First, set the cycle selector to Off and unplug the washer. Open the service door and remove it. Next loosen the screws and remove the protective foil. Remove the emptying hose from the holder and take off the cap. Drain the water from the hose. Replace the cap. Then carefully remove the pump cap and drain the rest of the water from the pump. Clean out any foreign objects from the area (housing, threads of the pump cap, etc). Make sure that the impeller can turn. Then replace the pump cap and tighten the screws (the handle should be vertical). Replace the emptying hose and the foil protector. Replace the service door and plug back in. Then fill the dispenser II with 1 liter of water and then start the Drain cycle. Let this water flow through to the pump.

The manual is available from Bosch. Go to http://www.bosch-home.com/us/WAS24460UC.html?source=search and click on Additional Documents . Then click on User Manual. This will redirect you to the correct page. Select your specific model and the language and click on the manual with the IU designation. The pictures to go with the clogged pump are on page 9 of the PDF.

The filters that can get blocked are in the water inlets. To clear those, turn off the water to the washer. Select a cycle and press Start/Pause. Wait 40 seconds then set the selector to Off. Unplug the washer. Then remove the inlet hoses. Clean and replace the filters at both sides of the hose. You will need pliers to remove the filters from the washing machine side. Then reconnect the hoses and check for leaks.

I hope this helps.

MY BOSCH WAE244SOZA WAS SHOWING F18 FAULT YESTERDAY. I SWITCHED OFF AND RAN SUOER QUICK CYCLE. NOW MACHINE IS FULL OF WATER AND DID NOT STOP AFTER 15 MINUTES

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Bosch 'F18' indicates a problem with draining. I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete and general guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT.
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

While washing program stops showing f18 flashing

f 18 means your unit has a drain issue If the washer doesn't drain properly within a specific amount of time, you'll get the F18 error. A common fix is to remove the panel covering your drain and examine it for any sort of debris that may be obstructing it if this doesnt not alleviate the issue then you would have to check the entire drain line itself. if you have any further questions message me back and please remember to rank how this opinion has helped it allows me to continue helping others in similar situations Thanks Rick

I have a WAS24460UC Bosch washer. It won't drain. The pump runs, sounds like it has an air pocket or like the pump is running backwards? I have had a F34 and an F18 erro code.

Check the drain line for kinks or obstructions. You can take a flashlight, remove the hoses from the pump and look into the suction port of the pump. Check for anything clogging the pump. (like the occasional stray sock). Also check the pump impellers for broken or missing blades and ensure that the pump impeller spins freely. If any blades are broken/missing or if you cannot get the impeller to spin freely, the pump is defective and will need replaced. Hopefully it is just a clogged pump or drain line. Hope this helped and best wishes.

What do I do when My machine shows F18 as an indicator of a problem

Hi,

F18 means pump is blocked or broken, clean filter first, no result change then you have to change the pump.

I also had this problem - the machine was full of water and it flashed up F18. I had to drain the water out of the machine using the small pipe located next to the drain filter. There was loads of water to drain out. I used my oven roasting tray which was perfect for the job. Then I undid the screwcap filter. There was a lot of really black water that came out, along with about two pounds worth of coins and some hairgrips. Now my machine works perfectly !

Problem with KitchenAid KUIA18PNLS0 Under-Counter 18-inch Ice Mak

There is no solution. I have three kitchenaid ice makers and they do not work. The 18inch was under warranty. I had it serviced every friday until warranty ran out. I put an inline filter on the machine and it ran like a charm for three months, which is a first. It's out again! The two 15 inch same thing... inline filter and it worked for a month. Yes I have cleaned the machine over and over with appropriate products. It will turn on water fills but it appears as though the pump is not moving the water. Either way the machine worked correctly for two years only for the 15 inch and for the 18 inch one year.
