I have a Kenmore top load washing machine and it is dripping water inside. Do i need to replace a valve or a gasket?

Until you find out why it is dripping turn off the water behind the washer. Then I would go and search online typing in the browser search "Kenmore top load washing machine model no _____ leaking - what is causing this?" and hit enter. You will get lots of leads. I did a quick search just on Kenmore top load washer leaking and found this video.

Hope it helps.

How do i stop water from dripping into basket when the machine is off

Needs a new water fill valve inside of machine
the part where fill hoses from water supply connect to washer is the valve , this valve is stuck open by ethier mechanical failure or sediment from well water , ethier way the water inlet valve needs to be replaced.Once replaced water supply to washer should be turned on when wash is started and turned off when the washing chores are done.

After washer has stopped, it contunes to drip inside the tube

Hi,

Start the washer in a normal cycle, once it starts to fill, unplug the unit from the wall. If the water stops completely its not a water valve issue. If it still drips, replace the water valve to the washer. Good Luck

Leak where water enters drum

I would say you havda inlet valve. With the washer not in use and empty after about 2-4 hours do you notice that you have a semi full tub? If it is filling with water by itself you have a bad inlet valve all you have to do is take the top panel off you will see the valve it's what is attached to the fill hoses. When you have dirty lines the dirt goes through the solinoids and keeps them open causeing the water to come in when not in use.

Water in my washing machine

it sounds like you have a leaking water valve, you will have to replace the mixing valve, For now turn the water off at the wall suppling water to the machine. When you want to use the washer turn on water, when its done with the cycle turn the water off.

Note: unplugging the machine will not stop the water from running
