Question about Blenders
There's an arrow on the lid and an arrow on the handle and they have to line up and point towards each other. When you lock the lid down it pushes a pin inside the handle which in turn pushes a swith inside the base of the blender that tells it that everything is in place and that its safe to use. Now its ready to use

Being a brand new Blender all you need is to check is to see if there is power at the outlet.Is so check the plug connection or use another outlet.
if not I would strongly recommend not to open the blender to probe for a failure but to call up the dealer or take the blender for the warranty claim.
