Try installing Revo Uninstaller free & run it in hunter mode. When it pulls up the list of softwares installed in the PC, select Ask Jeeves, set the uninstall mode to advanced, it will run the uninstaller. At the end of the uninstall process, click "next" & Revo will search for left over registry items, files & folders.

I want to get rid of "ASK" and set Google as my hopmepage

Here's how you can get rid of ASK toolbar and set Google as you homepage:
1.To uninstall Ask Toolbar program from Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, click the "Start" button, then click on the "Control Panel" menu option.
If you are using Windows 8, simply drag your mouse pointer to the right edge of the screen, select Search from the list and search for "control panel" .Or you can right-click on a bottom left hot corner (formerly known as the Start button) and select Control Panel from there.
2.When the "Control Panel" window opens click on the "Uninstall a program" option under "Programs" category. This option is shown by the arrow in the image below. If you are using the "Classic View" of the Control Panel, then you would double-click on the "Programs and Features" icon instead.
3.When the "Programs and Features" or the "Uninstall a Program" screen is displayed, scroll through the list of currently installed programs and uninstall Ask Toolbar, Ask Toolbar Updater, Ask Updater and any other recently installed or unknown programs from your computer. That should uninstall Ask toolbar from your computer. You'll also need to remove extensions from your browsers. Refer to this article which gives detailed instructions on how you can remove Ask toolbar from your browser as well as what to do if you can't remove it:
    http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-ask-toolbar-and-search/
For setting Google as home page, once Ask toolbar has been removed, just open your browser and paste this link in the address bar:

How can I get rid of Ask Jeeves

If you click on View on the top menu of your browser and then Toolbars there should be a check mark next to Ask. If you click on Ask, the toolbar should be gone.

Once you do that I believe you can remove it totally by using the Add/Remove Programs from the Control Panel.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Is this the Ask Jeeves Toolbar? Did you recently install the Zone Alarm Firewall? If so that is how you got the toolbar. If you left click on the Zone Alarm logo in the toolbar a drop down menu will come up with the option to uninstall Ask Jeeves.

How do i remove ask jeeves tool bar

You should be able to remove it by right clicking on an empty part of the browser and simply unchecking it. If you want the software completely removed, go to control panel=>add/remove programs (you may have vista and switch to classic view found on the left hand side of the screen)=>select the program installed by it's filename (it should be named after Ask Jeeves)=>select uninstall.
